Introduction
The Book of Amos serves as a prophesy intended for the people within Israel. Amos
begins with eight indictments of eight nations before progressing to the visions against Israel as a
nation and the people. The people of Israel have progressed from a nation of God to focusing on
wealth and prosperity. In this time the nation no longer is set apart for God but has become much
like its neighbors of the world. Amos will demonstrate God’s judgement on these neighboring
nations as the book begins with indictments against Damascus, Gaze, Tyre, Edom, Ammon, and
