POPULATION HEALTH INTERVENTION PROJECT: Mental Health affecting Adolescents
The word mental health has many different stages that are involved within its makeup affecting
adolescents tremendously. The effects of mental health have become widely diverse and have taken a
major effect on adolescents within the last few years. There are many different mental health disorders
that adolescents can suffer from. It is essential that we understand the impact that mental health disorders
have on our youth (Stewart & Shields, 2019). Adolescences encounter many factors that contribute to
mental health. It is important that we help and address adolescents struggling with these issues.
Mental health problems can widely affect the quality of life within adolescents. Mental health
problems affect one in every five adolescents at different times. Many individuals feel that mental health
illness is uncommon, something that just happens to individuals with life circumstances totally different
from their own, and that it will never influence them (National Institute of Mental Health, 2014).
Investigations of the study of disease transmission of mental health illnesses show that this myth is far
from the truth. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder also known as ADHD, affects children, teens and
can also affect adults as well. ADHD is the most diagnosed mental disorder of children. Children with
ADHD experience many different symptoms. For example, some can be hyperactive, and some are not
able to control their nerves (National Institute of Mental Health, 2014).

Matthew 10:8-11reads, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons.
You received without paying; give without pay. Acquire no gold nor silver nor copper for your
belts, no bag for your journey, nor two tunics nor sandals nor a staff, for the laborer deserves his
food. And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until
you depart (Matthew, 10:8-11). God always believed in lending a helping hand not because you
would receive something in return but because it is the right thing to do. When you reach out and
give willing God blesses those who give abundantly because he loves a cheerful giver.
