The implementation of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system by healthcare
organizations aids in access of medical information worldwide. Through adequate training of the

EHR system enhances patient care and healthcare professionals’ workforce. This paper will lay
out the model used to explain the execution of the Electronic Health Record System (EHR) in the
healthcare workplace, led by the informatic registered nurse.
Implementing Model
The Program Implementation Model, PRECEDE-PROCEED Model represents the terms;
PRECEDE: predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling contracts in educational diagnosis and
evaluation, PROCEED policy, regulatory, and organizational constructs in educational and
environmental development. This model addresses change at several levels, ranging from the
individual to the organization level. It also measures the interaction between three different
variables produced changes: (1) predisposing factors that lay the foundation for success (e.g.,
electronic health records or strong leadership), (2) reinforcing factors that follow and strengthen
behavior (e.g., incentives, and feedback), (3) enabling factors that active and support the change
process (e.g., support, training, computerized reminders and templates or exciting content. The
United theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) is an adaptation of the social
cognitive theories within the field of informatics. UTAUT explains users’ intentions to use an
information system as a function of performance expectancies, social influence, and facilitating
conditions (Nelson & Staggers, 2018).
The EHR system is defined as a repository of patients’ information in digital form, stored
and exchanged safely. It also refers to the software platforms which physicians use to create,
store, update, and maintain an EHR for patients. There is a growing consciousness among
healthcare institutions for adopting the EHR system to ensure better care and services to patients.
The EHR system is linked with the Clinical Decision Support Systems (DSS) that ensures
decision support for all types of healthcare service providers such as physicians, staff, and

administration. Moreover, the EHR system contains information related to the patients including
monitoring details, treatment details, diagnosis, billing, medical insurance, and contact details,
etc. several drawbacks of such kind of paper-based records such as ambiguity, illegibility,
incomplete data, and data disintegration. (Hossain et al., 2019, p. 76).
Advantages
There are numerous points of interest in the usage of the EHR framework in healthcare.
The expanded appropriation of electronic wellbeing record (EHR) frameworks by wellbeing care
suppliers give an opportunity to get to more opportune information. The EHR can empower the
healthcare framework more proficient, improve get to reasonable care, and diminish printed
material for specialists and patients. The grasping of the EHR framework can encourage superior
data recovery and permit legitimacy tests for information quality, investigate and taking
legitimate choice for treatment. It can engage the healthcare framework more effective; upgrade
get to reasonable care and diminish printed material for specialists and patients (Hossain et al.,
2019, p. 77). Recognitions of EHR’s relative advantage will increment when workers accept (a)
EHR encompasses clear viability or fetched viability over paper records and (b) EHR can be
effectively executed. In any case, for representatives to get it EHR’s focal points and usage, this
information and proper EHR use must be clearly, accurately, timely, and effectively
communicated to employees (Barrett, 2017, p 498).
Disadvantages
Running head: HEALTHCARE INFORMATICS 4
There are disadvantages to the implementation of the EHR system in healthcare. The
medical literature discloses that doctors have a negative outlook on the EHR system due to
technology anxiety and ineffective doctor-patient communications. The physicians are also
worried that the EHR system can change the present work practices and interrupt workflow.
Some different human and social factors, personal innovativeness in information technology (PI)
and resistance to change (RC) have been identified as important factors to the successful
adoption and use of the EHR system (Hossain et al., 2019, p. 77). Autonomy and support,
workplace satisfaction is also a central issue for physicians throughout EHR implementation. As
a result of EHR implementation, nurses are also undergoing a workplace shift in which
increasing work demands have greatly increased nurses’ intent to leave. EHR implementation
requires nurses to tolerate a less reliable workplace as they manage unexpected events and adjust
existing organizational rules to accommodate the new technology. Nurses have long been
depicted as procuring a “glue function” at work, meaning they play a central communicative role
in the workplace and have a holistic view of the patient’s medical and social needs and other
health professionals’ (inter)actions with patients. A new EHR system can violate nurses’
individual need-states for efficiency and personalization in their work. Considering that
physicians’ and nurses’ job tasks require the most face-time with patients, and EHR protocols can
devalue that face-time, the communicative nature of nurses and physicians’ work is perhaps most
threatened by EHR policies and protocols (Barrett, 2017, p. 497).
Training
EHR planning programs may have the impact on the security, quality, accuracy, and
comfort of care and may as well help reduce healthcare burnout by moving forward essential
aptitudes and reducing time interfere with all perspectives of a patient's prosperity record. Most

healthcare organizations have grasped the utilize of electronic prosperity records (EHRs) and
allow starting planning for healthcare experts. Though there's an exceptional deal of
demonstrating to seem that hands-on learning and isolated reiteration are significantly reasonable
to preserve learning. Instruction substance tended to goals of actualizing best practices in EHR
documentation to progress proficiency, unwavering quality, and understanding security. This
included overcoming workflow challenges, making precise and opportune orders and notes, and
utilizing decision-support arrange sets planned with evidence-based conventions and clinical
rules. They utilized profoundly intelligently strategies of instruction counting show, encouraged
(Robinson & Kelsey, 2018, p. 38).
Preservation
Once the utilization and planning of the EHR system interior healthcare organizations are
started, preservation is fundamental to continue to move forward in healthcare transport. Along
these lines, informatics support would be valuable in an organization in keeping up educator
planning of EHR systems. An informatics sustain specializes in science, computer science, and
information science, to supervise and communicate data, information, data, and insights in
nursing, instruction, ask around and organization. Their principal portion is to actualize, manage,
lead healthcare organizations in automation. They work particularly with clinical, administrative,
and specialized staff in organizations. The informatics support gives a reasonable organization,
by understanding the organizations’ vision and values and the people and handle (Nelson &
Staggers, 2018).
Evaluation
Running head: HEALTHCARE INFORMATICS 6
Educational intervention can be evaluated using mixed methods and multiple data
sources: just-in-time feedback, end-of-day surveys, and post-activity surveys. Just-in-time
feedback is designed to respond to participants’ immediate learning needs. The End-of-day
surveys are designed to assess participants’ perceived value and remaining challenges on the
topics addressed that day. The Post-activity surveys are designed to collect qualitative and
quantitative data, to assess self-reported competence and performance, and perceived impact of
educational interventions (Comer et al., 2018, 647).
Christian Worldview
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your
ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the
Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones” (Proverbs
3:5-8, NKJV). Nursing is a ministry, as an extension of God’s power, caring for his creation that
needs guidance and healing. Guidance of his people whom he has blessed with the gift of giving
care to the sick and healing for the wounded. Therefore, as a nurse, it is important to understand
that we are created for different purposes and God will give us what we need to fulfill that
purpose. “Behold, I lay upon its health and healing, and I will cure them and will reveal to them
the abundance of peace (prosperity, security, stability and truth” (Jeremiah 33:6, Amplified
Bible).
