Practicum: Planning Learning Objectives
The practicum experience allows you to develop and expand your advanced
nursing knowledge and skills at the aggregate, organizational, or policy level.
During week 1 you will submit two to three individual learning objectives that you
wish to achieve during this practicum experience. #You should prepare a set of
measurable learning objectives, using#Bloom’s Taxonomy. Your practicum
objectives should reflect your interest in expanding knowledge. They are not to
include activities related to your DNP project. These objectives will be identified
during your mentoring course (NURS 8700P, 8700, 8701). #Practice experiences
should be designed achieve specific learning objectives related to the DNP
Essentials and specialty competencies (AACN, 2006).
Your practicum objectives should include the following:
1) Three learning objectives using Bloom’s Taxonomy.
2) Description of how these objectives will expand your advanced nursing
knowledge and skills at the aggregate, organizational, or policy level.
3) Relationship of the learning objectives to the DNP Essentials.
1) Three learning objectives using Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Here are three learning objectives using Bloom's Taxonomy for your practicum experience:
Knowledge/Understanding (Bloom's Taxonomy Level: Remembering): Objective: By the end of the
practicum experience, the student will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the
organizational structure, policies, and processes of a healthcare institution. Example: The student will
accurately describe the roles and responsibilities of different departments within the healthcare
organization, such as administration, nursing, and quality improvement.
Application (Bloom's Taxonomy Level: Applying): Objective: By the end of the practicum experience, the
student will be able to apply evidence-based practice principles to improve patient outcomes at the
aggregate level. Example: The student will design and implement an evidence-based intervention or
quality improvement project targeting a specific population within the healthcare organization,
considering factors such as best practices, available resources, and ethical considerations.
Evaluation (Bloom's Taxonomy Level: Evaluating): Objective: By the end of the practicum experience, the
student will be able to critically evaluate the effectiveness of healthcare policies and their impact on
population health outcomes. Example: The student will analyze and assess the outcomes of a specific
healthcare policy implemented within the organization, considering factors such as access to care, cost-
