Abstract
One of the major developments that has had a real impact on the fashion business is the
use of social media influencers in decision-making processes. The importance of social media
has grown significantly over the past few years, and it has become a crucial tool for small
businesses and fashion companies to sell their products. The impact of social media on small
businesses in the fashion industry will be investigated in this quantitative research prospectus.
This proposal, which will include data from a small-scale pilot research, will serve as the first
framework for a comprehensive investigation. By considering the lessons from the small-scale
study, the small-scale pilot study will serve as the basis for this larger-scale investigation. The
large-scale study plan will take up most of the proposal's material. Marketers can utilize the
findings of this proposal as ideas for further research and can act on the outcomes.
Introduction
The impact that social media will have on the fashion business could not have been
predicted in the 1990s. However, consumers have started to use social media to find, arrange,
and share their fashion-related stories and experiences. Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube are used
by many influencers, and these three platforms have significantly changed how individuals
communicate with one another and how businesses interact with their customers. Social media
influencers are crucial to the overall shopping experience for consumers. More than half of
survey respondents (52%) were found to have changed their future plans to purchase goods after
reading evaluations on social media platforms, according to a recent study (Minazzi, 2018, p.
77). Since user-generated material on social media can take the shape of photographs, videos,
texts, and audio files, social media's full potential greatly aids consumers and small businesses in
engaging with potential customers and boosting their online visibility, which generates more
money. "Companies should no longer debate having a social media presence" (Mcnamara, 2016,
p. 61).
Statement of the Problem:
The study aims to investigate how social media influencer marketing influences consumer
purchasing decisions, taking into account the dominance of social media over traditional media

Research Questions:
What is the extent of influence that social media influencer marketing has on consumer
purchasing decisions?
How do consumers perceive and respond to influencer-promoted content on social media
platforms?
What factors contribute to the trustworthiness of influencer recommendations in comparison to
traditional advertising?
Procedures
Philosophical Assumptions of Qualitative Research:
This study will be guided by qualitative research principles, recognizing the importance of
subjectivity, context, and the interpretive nature of data.
Qualitative Research Strategy:
The chosen research strategy is qualitative inquiry, allowing for an in-depth exploration of the
phenomenon.
Role of the Researcher:
The researcher acknowledges potential biases and will employ strategies to maintain objectivity,
such as bracketing personal beliefs.
Data Collection Procedures:
Data will be collected through in-depth interviews with consumers who actively engage with
social media influencers and influencer-promoted content.
Strategies for Validating Findings:
To enhance the credibility of findings, this research will employ member checking and peer
debriefing, ensuring triangulation of data sources.
Proposed Narrative Structure of the Study:
The study will be organized into chapters, including an introduction, literature review,
methodology, findings, discussion, and conclusion.
Anticipated Ethical Issues:
Ethical considerations include informed consent, confidentiality, and respect for participant
privacy. Ethical guidelines will be strictly followed.
Preliminary Pilot Findings
Sample Selection:
Participants were selected purposefully based on their engagement with influencer marketing
content.
Themes from Pilot Study:
Themes emerging from the pilot study included the significance of trust, the role of relatability,
and the impact of authenticity in influencer-promoted content.
Expected Outcomes of Larger Study
Building on the pilot study findings, the larger-scale research anticipates a deeper understanding
of the dynamics between social media influencers and consumer purchasing behavior. Insights
gained will contribute to the field of marketing.
Recommendations for Future Research/Marketing Management
Future research should further investigate the impact of specific influencer characteristics on
consumer trust.
Continuous monitoring of evolving influencer marketing trends is recommended for marketing
practitioners.
Implications of findings for marketing management include the importance of authenticity in
influencer-brand collaborations.
