Integration of Faith and Learning Assignment
The integration of faith and learning is a necessity within quality management of any type
of project. A project manager possessing the skills of God’s teachings, the moral compass, and
faith in bringing out the best in people and products is a valuable competency. The paper will
examine Bible teachings and apply them to the concept of quality throughout project
management and daily life. As Christians, continuous improvement is part of a lifestyle and
placing our faith in God to develop, strengthen, heal, and restore us, is the driving force to make
better quality decisions to produce higher quality results moving forward. Learning from past
experiences, analyzing lessons learned, continuously improving processes on the basis of
outcomes, collaboration, and communication, are foundational to quality growth.
Moral and Ethical Leadership
Moral and ethical leadership is a critical component of producing quality projects and
high performing teams. According to Mabey et al., (2017), spirituality in the workplace and
spiritual leadership is highly influential in the USA. Brown et al., (2005, p. 120, as cited in
Mabey et al., 2017, p. 4) define ethical leadership as “the demonstration of normatively
appropriate conduct through personal actions and interpersonal relationships, and the promotion
of such conduct to followers through two-way communication, reinforcement, and decision-
making”. Jesus’ teachings during the Sermon on the Mount place the core values of humility,
integrity, kindness, forgiveness, peace, and love at the center of Christian life found in ESV
Bible, Matthew 5 and 6, (Mabey et al., 2017). In Matthew 18:9-10 (ESV Bible), Jesus tells the
parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, “He also told this parable to some who trusted in
themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: ‘Two men went up into
the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector’.” The parable tells the story of a

wealthy businessman who made his fortune through corruption, but through his faith in Jesus, he
changes his attitude and becomes accountable to God. Living in faith is not only for the
powerless but is meant for all. “Jesus aimed his teaching at everyone, particularly those in
positions of wealth and influence while realizing that for this latter group, the embodiment of
values was even more difficult than it was for the poor” (Mabey et al., 2017, p. 3). Strong
leaders with ethics and morals built on God’s words have the ability to build strong teams
leading to successful quality management. Proverbs 13:13 (ESV), tells us the word of God
warrants the upmost respect and always present; and by doing so brings rewards. The sense of
right and wrong comes from the Bible and is the foundation of Christian values and beliefs.
Christianity has been and continues to be a driving force in the marketplace, influencing all
aspects of organizational success and quality driven outputs.
Christianity in the Marketplace
Faith in the workplace is on a global scale. According to Beckwith (2016), the
tremendous impact and influence of Christianity on the world as a whole, especially in the global
economy, is responsible for much of the way the world lives and operates in present day.
Christianity is foundational in setting the standards of personal lives and is a key driving factor
of business behaviors. Beckwith (2016) presents that Christianity plays a fundamental role in
shaping the ethical behavior in international negotiations and business dealings. Strong ethical
behavior strives for continuous quality improvements, sustaining quality through control, and
quality assurance to evaluate performance against targets during operations (McGraw-Hill
Create, 2020). Project management requires certain levels of quality that should not be
negotiable. 1 Corinthians 15:3 (ESV Bible) teaches us to hold fast and stay strong to the
teachings of God unwavering. Quality project deliverables require that project manager’s stand

strong on the controls in place to ensure the highest of quality is always present. Choosing a
basic core of integrity, faith, education, and confidence as a foundation and then continuing to
improve decisions based upon insights gained from the systematic evaluation of the practice of
the core values opens a path to higher quality decisions and higher quality results (Simons,
2017). “Every decision is the opportunity to improve upon the one that came before it” (Simons,
2017, para. 11). Additionally, quality, as it relates to socially responsible products and
operations, has an impact on religiosity in the marketplace. Graafland, 2017 hypothesizes
religious values and behavioral norms affect the attitude and behavior of consumers which is
fostering the demand for socially responsible goods and manufacturing processes. Quality
management must continually surveille the marketplace to remain competitive by satisfying
consumer demand. Christian values throughout the quality management process are critical
within business and our personal lives. The teachings of the Bible are foundational to one’s
lifestyle and how we conduct business, which is pleasing to our Lord.
Conclusion
In closing, the integration of faith and learning are and integral part of a robust quality
management program. Christianity and the teachings of the Bible are foundational for guiding
project manager’s and consumer’s to continuously improve their approach to delivering quality
products and services and conducting daily lives. Moral and ethical decision-making and
leadership must be the driving force behind any quality result. Christianity is prevalent within
the workplace and marketplace globally. Ethical practices and socially responsible products and
operations are key to remaining competitive and sustainable with consumers, stakeholders, and
remain in the pleasure of God. God is the ultimate stakeholder in how we conduct ourselves in
life and in business. We must continually improve the quality of our norms and behaviors and

ask God to help us be the best we can be in life. Having faith and continuous learning is critical
to follow the path God has put before us. All things go through Him and come from Him,
therefore, being a good Christian means studying and applying the teachings of the Bible in
every aspect of life.
