From the account of Noah in Genesis 6 – 7, address at least 2 specific stages
in project management covered in Chapter 8 of the text that are evident in
this scripture.
Your Answer:
In a world of adversity, Noah strived to do as God asked of him. Noah relied
on his faith in God, careful planning, and persistence to build the ark. The
stages of project management are proposal, initial investigation, detailed
investigation, development and testing, trial, operation and closure, and
evaluation (Satterlee, 2018). The initial investigation occurred in Genesis 6:1-
3 "When human beings began to increase in number in the earth and
daughters were born to them. The sons of God saw that the daughters of
humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. The the
Lord said, "My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are
mortal and their days will be a hundred and twenty years" (King James
Version, 2014). The rest of Genesis chapter 6 continues the initial
investigation and the detailed investigation. God's assessment of the earth
and humans was not a good one and everyone was deemed to be evil.
However, God went unto Noah and explained to him that he was to build an
ark. This represents the development and testing phase of project
management. God instructed Noah in Genesis chapter 7 to build an ark.
Genesis 7:1-4 states, "The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and
your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.
Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate,
and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also
seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various
kinds alive throughout the earth. Seven days from now I will send rain on the
earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the
earth every living creature I have made" (King James Version, 2014). At the
end of Genesis 7:4, Noah is given seven days to complete the ark before the
flood waters arise. Therefore, this represents operation and closure in project
management.

Where each process produces only w hat is needed by the next process in the continuous flow .
The six stages of project management include (a) the proposal, (b) detailed
investigation, (c) development and testing, (d) trial, (e) operation and
closure, and (f) evaluation (Satterlee, 2013). Proposal - God gave Noah a
warning that the flood was coming. The proposal was that Noah would build
an ark to survive the flood. The earth was evil and God intended to pass
judgement all most of the inhabitants of the earth. Detailed investigation -
God gave Noah specific, detailed instructions on how to build the arc in order
to survive the flood. Operation and closure - Noah built the arc to
specifications and gather up all of the intended inhabitants. Development
and testing - the arc was built and the rains came. Trial - The arc passed the
test of 40 days and nights of rain. Evaluation - God evaluated Noah after the
rains stopped and the earth became visible again. Noah had passed the test.
The project had been completed on time and proved to serve its purpose.
