LIFE REVIEW ASSESSMENT TEMPLATE
In week two you completed a Life Review Assessment (see lecture notes) where you
rated your success in a number of areas. Look over your assessment from week two and
make some notes here. In what key life areas did you consider yourself the most
successful? The least successful?
One of the areas I am most successful in is being able to communicate openly with
people and even speak in front of large groups. My least successful is second-guessing
myself. I know what I am doing is right, but I tend to question it. With God all things are
possible, I have to keep telling myself that.
In this final project, you will be creating goals by prayerfully casting a vision for the
same eight key areas of your life: spiritual, relational, career and work, financial, health
and fitness, lifestyle, organization, and personal growth. God-given vision is birthed in
your spirit, gives you direction, and motivates you as you move forward to fulfill God’s
purpose for your life. It will serve as a guide for goal setting, and ultimately help you
decide on your focus goal for this life coaching assignment.
After you’ve established your vision for each of these eight key areas, you’ll create
SMART goals to accompany them. Finally, you’ll construct a focus goal -- one goal you
believe you could accomplish in a specific period of time that would move you closer to
fulfilling the vision God has implanted in your heart.
First, Cast Your Vision
This vision should propel you forward as you seek to fulfill God’s plan and purpose for
your life. The vision statements you make here will serve as a guide for goal setting, and
ultimately help you decide on what’s most important to you at this time in your life.
What do you envision for yourself in these eight key goal areas? What do you believe
God wants for you? Vision statements are broad statements focused on the long-term
desired change.
Spiritual Life
My Vision: Humbly submitting to the assignment that God has for my life. Starting
each day with prayer and meditation. Reciting affirmations of positivity. Growing
spiritually daily and becoming better than I was the day before. Standing on the word
of God and His promises for my life.
My SMART GOAL:
Getting up a little earlier for prayer and seeking out what God’s plan is for me for the
day. Going into my day with joy and excitement as I know God will make the day
great. During the day make time to give God praise for allowing me to continue to do

church. Examples of relationship goals could be:
To practice better conflict resolution skills
To learn how to encourage each of my children

Work-related goals might include career planning, project completion, or meeting
quotas. Examples of career and work goals could be:
To investigate work-from-home opportunities
To increase my monthly sales production

Creating S.M.A.R.T. Goals
LIFC 502
Specific - A specific goal has a much greater chance of being accomplished than a
general goal.
EXAMPLE:<A general goal would be, "Improve my relationship with God," but a
specific goal would say, "I will set apart 30 minutes a day, three days a week for the next
year to meditate on the Word of God." Another general goal would be, “I want to get
healthier.” A specific goal would be: “I will go to the gym or meet my walking partner
four times each week and workout/walk for 45 minutes for the next three months.”
Measurable - Establish concrete criteria for measuring progress toward the attainment of
each goal you set.
To determine if your goal is measurable, ask questions such as: How much? How many?
How will I know when it is accomplished?
Attainable - When you identify goals that are most important to you, you begin to figure
out ways you can make them come true. You develop the attitudes, abilities, and skills to
help reach them.
You can attain most any goal you set when you plan your steps wisely and establish a
time frame that allows you to carry out those steps. Goals that may have seemed far away
and out of reach eventually move closer and become attainable, not because your goals
shrink, but because you grow and expand to match them.
Realistic - To be realistic, a goal must represent an objective toward which you are both
willing and able to work.
Your goal is probably realistic if you truly believe that it can be accomplished. Additional
ways to know if your goal is realistic is to determine if you have accomplished anything
similar in the past or ask yourself what conditions would have to exist to accomplish this
goal.
Timely - A goal should be grounded within a time frame. With no time frame tied to it
there's no sense of urgency. If you want to lose 10 lbs, when do you want to lose it by?
"Someday" won't work. But if you anchor it within a timeframe, "by December 1st," then
you've set your unconscious mind into motion to begin working on the goal.
It may help to consider your vision statements before creating SMART goals in each key
area. For example:
Organization
LIFC 502
My Vision: To keep my home peaceful and serene. Stress free. Have every area of
my home organized.
My SMART Goal: To stay on target with my daily routines. Maintain order in every
area of my life.
Now, Develop Your Own SMART Goals
Spiritual Life
My SMART goal: Getting up a little earlier for prayer and seeking out what God’s
plan is for me for the day. Daily affirmations. Going into my day with joy and
excitement as I know God will make the day great. During the day make time to give
God praise for allowing me to continue to do His will, and encouraging those that I
may encounter. Ending my day still giving God the glory for the wonderful things He
has done. I will write down the events of the day whether they be good or bad.
Reflecting on what I can improve.
Relationships
My SMART goal: To begin to get better connected to family and friends by giving
them encouragement and positive feedback. Make plans to do more things with my
family. Schedule outings, dinners, and quality time. Building relationships that will
help me stay on track with the goals that I set for myself. Finding my cheerleaders.
Career & Work
My SMART goal: Continue to seek professional growth opportunities that will fulfill
my purpose and challenge my potential and ability in becoming an amazing life
coach. Set goals and be consistent in my ability to obtain the right fit for me.
Financial
My SMART goal: To not live beyond my means. Establish a plan to eliminate all
debt.
LIFC 502
Health & Fitness
My SMART goal: Continue my routine of exercise and eating right. Drinking the
right amount of water daily.
Lifestyle
My SMART goal: Be sure that my lifestyle aligns with my vision, purpose and
dreams. Maintain structure and keep positivity in my space.
Organization
My SMART goal: Maintain balance. Keep an organized and clean home. Reduce any
clutter.
Personal Growth
My SMART goal: Work on perfecting my skillset, gaining knowledge, and
developing a more personal relationship with God. Overcoming any fears that may
prevent me from moving forward. Being verbal with my emotions. Stronger bonds
with family and friends.
Choose Your Focus Goal
Although you probably have items in each category you would like to accomplish, the
next few exercises will help you narrow down the list to just one goal we will call your
focus goal. The first task is to determine if your focus goal lines up with these
statements:
This goal is achievable in a specific period of days, weeks, or months
This goal has eluded me thus far
I need God’s help to achieve this goal
When you’re satisfied that you have locked in on the one SMART goal you wish to make
your focus goal, you should write it in the form of a declaration. The dictionary defines
“declaration” as follows:
• A formal or explicit statement or announcement
LIFC 502
• The formal announcement of the beginning of a state or condition
• A written public announcement of intentions or of the terms of an agreement
Consider the declaration of your focus goal an agreement between you and God as he
approves of, supports, and by his Spirit and his Word facilitates the change you are
seeking.
Write Your Focus Goal Here: Perfecting my Spiritual Life
Rewrite your focus goal beginning with, “My goal is to…”
to be more consistent in my spiritual life.
___________________________________________________________
Finally, Develop Your Action Plan to Achieve This Goal:
My FOCUS Goal: Perfecting my spiritual life
Idea or Action Due
Date Possible Obstacle and Plan to Overcome Status
1 Placing affirmations in my home 5-6-23 Daily activities may prevent me started
2 Reciting affirmations daily 5-6-23 Repeating them daily everyday
3 Journal daily activities 5-12-23 Being busy or tired prevents me. Making
excuses

purpose 5-6-23 Continue to read the scriptures I find Working
on it
After you have set your goals, an action plan will help you create the smaller steps
towards success. Brainstorm multiple ideas or actions for your goal. Complete one at a
time. If this action or idea does not work as you expected, then you will already have
some alternative ideas to help you remain focused and on target.
One thing to consider when attempting to reach your focus goal is the fact that there may
be a number of obstacles that will hinder you from moving forward. Personal obstacles
LIFC 502
would include those related to your psychology, behaviors, and state-of-mind. They can
also include unhelpful habits, debilitating emotions, paralyzing fears, and limiting beliefs.
Social obstacles are related to people who either do no cooperate with you, sabotage you,
or are simply unable to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to them. Environmental
obstacles are often unexpected conditions, occurrences, and circumstances that you have
very little control over.
In the section below, describe four action steps you’ll be taking that will help you reach
the focus goal you have selected. Next, identify a possible obstacle for each one, and a
plan to overcome that obstacle. Write these out in complete sentences.
1. My Action Step: Find my quiet place. Develop ways to ensure that I take all the proper
steps to stay on course.
A Possible Obstacle: Getting easily distracted or discouraged. Stop allowing people or
things to be a distraction.
My Plan to Overcome Obstacle: Being more confident and standing firm on my goals
and the timeline I set.
2. My Action Step: Take time to incorporate scriptures during my daily routines and
apply them.
A Possible Obstacle: Too tired or busy.
My Plan to Overcome Obstacle: Be consistent and not allow outside influences to
distract me.
3. My Action Step: Journal and give God praise for my success and failures. Stop
doubting myself.
A Possible Obstacle: Allowing my negative thoughts and failures to overshadow the
positive.
My Plan to Overcome Obstacle: Push myself regardless of how it makes me feel.
4. My Action Step: Ask for help from those stronger than myself.
LIFC 502
A Possible Obstacle: Not allowing anyone in my circle. Not listening. Pride.
My Plan to Overcome Obstacle: Let my pride go. Listen to the advice of my superiors.
Now, get ready to move beyond your former limitations and step outside the confines of
your former mindset. As you continue to pursue your goals you may want to focus on the
transformative process that reflects the very nature of our God—whose forgiveness,
grace, and mercy is the power of redemption itself.
MY PRAYER of COMMITMENT:
Father God in the name oof your son Jesus, I give you all the glory, the honor, and the praise
for allowing me to see each day that I open my eyes. For keeping a song in my heart. You
have been good to me, and I thank you. You are worthy God and I know you make all
things possible. I ask that you walk with me, and place people in my life that are for my life.
My greatest desire is that you live inside of me. And your will be fulfilled. Provide me with
everything that I need to complete every goal set before me. I submit my will to you. I have
not been successful in my journey, but I know that you will see that my path is straight and
on target. With your power, will and grace surrounding me.
I can do all things because you give me strength. As I move toward my focus goal, God I
ask that you show me my habits, past sins, and destructive words, my behaviors and actions
have contributed to my less than successful career. Thank you for how you gave your life
for me. I forgive those who have plotted against. I give to you lord their selfish ways and
pray that you change their ways. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
To Complete Your Final Project
In conclusion, please write a brief statement below (approximately two paragraphs) on
how completing this project and successfully reaching your focus goal will help you both
personally and professionally.
In reaching my focus goals I will apply Gods word to my everyday activities.
Knowing Gods ways are higher than mine. Being confident in knowing that He will
provide me with everything I need. I will coach my clients to overcome their fears and
anxieties so that they can be better at what they try to accomplish. In a personal way this
will allow me to see myself from a different perspective and allow me to progress in
whatever I set out to do. Everything I touch will prosper.
Professionally, reaching my focus goal will allow me to become an outstanding
life coach for my clients. I have gained the necessary tools and will continue to learn new
techniques that will keep me on top of the game. I will walk in love and respect those that
I encounter. I will boldly confess the word of God and use it daily in my coaching skills.
LIFC 502
Making my clients aware of their flaws while seeing mine and using the coaching toolbox
to hold firm to my skills. I will make sure that I give God full reign in the direction I take
and the attention I give my clients.
