Mentor Interviews: Report Assignment
Davis Howell
LEAD510: Biblical Foundations of Leadership (D02)
April 2023
Introduction
Mentoring is an important part of any career, but especially needed in the context of
ministry. Mentoring within the confines of ministry allows one generation of ministers to pass on
the successes and failures of their generation into the hands of the next. Mentoring is something
that any minister should be sitting under and seeking to pass along to someone else. Mentoring is
something that has personally changed how I do ministry. I was first ministered in a setting by a
group of pastors who saw the calling on my life and desired to help me grow in that. These
pastors showed me the good and bad sides of ministry all while allowing for reflection and
revision in my ministerial and personal life. A mentoring relationship allows for each person to
continue to grow in their ministry and walk with the Lord. For my mentor interviews I
interviewed two men who believe in the value of ministry and mentoring. They are doing
everything they can to pass this down to the next generation of ministers through mentorship.
They are telling others that ministry is important and putting their money where there mouth is
and actually mentoring other people. I believe in the course of this assignment it will be clear
that mentoring is important and even when it is done slight different ways the overall goals
remain the same and can be accomplished in different settings.
