All Men are Created Equal
Introduction
“All men are created equal”. This phrase is one that has been inscribed into all Americans from
an early age. It is a principle which America was founded on, which we all strive to uphold, and
which lays the foundation for laws in our society. While this basic idea is simple enough, it
hasn’t stopped groups of people from trying to interpret it to understand the real meaning behind
it. One real world application that evaluates this basic principle is whether men and women are
created equal under the US military. The question asked today is whether Army Regulation 600-
13, which allows only for males to have officer positions if the unit is involved in direct combat
violates the Biblical Equality Principle from God?
Background of Army Regulation 600-13
Since 1775, women have served in the United State Army and have been critical in fighting
devastating wars and protecting the freedom of all Americans. Women still play an important

part in the US Army and currently make up 15.7% of the Army. While women are a part of the
