The first source I have picked is this scholarly article called “Playing Favorites?” This article is a
primary scholarly journal that has firsthand information including data and statistics. This article
was made to inform and teach about the opinions of several teachers and education experts on
the issue of favoritism in the classroom. The information in this article relates to my topic well. It
talks about prejudices, elementary schools, teacher-student relationships, teacher attitudes,
psychology of teachers, and interpersonal relations. This author, Eric Butterman, takes real
teacher’s opinions as well as student’s opinions on these topics. Eric Butterman is an author and
a writer of over 50 publications relating to education management. This author is very credible
and a great person to be writing this article, he has written many peer-reviewed article on topics
pertaining to school management. This scholarly article will be a great selection for my portfolio
project and has great information and credibility pertaining to my topic.

The second source I have picked is this printed-out book, called “25 Biggest Mistakes Teachers
Make and How to Avoid Them,” which is also available online as an eBook. This book is a
primary source, it has first-hand information written by the author. There are current student
surveys and data results in this book. This source was written to inform and to teach about
mistakes teachers make in schools and how to avoid these unethical practices. The information in
this article relates to my topic well. It talks about teacher-student relationships, effective
teaching, and interaction analysis. This book takes real students voices of these topics, and the
author, Carolyn Orange, provides educational theories and problem solving to help these
situations. Carolyn Orange is a Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at
San Antonio. She teaches Psychological Basis of Learning. This author is the perfect person to be
writing this book, she has background pertaining to the topic and is a teacher herself, so I am
sure she has seen and heard a lot of different teaching practices. This book was found in the
online Jerry Falwell Library of Liberty and is a credible book that has been peer reviewed. This
book will be a great selection for my portfolio project and has great information and credibility
pertaining to my topic.
