Vehicle Comparison Essay
Finding good company vehicles is an important aspect of ensuring company success.
However, there are various factors that go into finding a vehicle that would best fit a company.
Companies should always aim to choose vehicles that are safe, reliable, and efficient enough to
sustain their purpose. Which is why doing adequate research is imperative in finding the ideal
fleet of vehicles. This paper will analyze the current 2021 models of the Honda Accord Hybrid,
Tesla Model 3 Electric, Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe and, Lexus GX 460 SUV in hopes of
finding the best fit for Nelson and Cleveland, Inc.
According to an article on 2021 Honda Accords, Honda leads all full-line automakers in
fleet-average fuel economy and low CO2 emissions according to the U.S. EPA, with 27 vehicles
that received EPA combined fuel economy ratings of 30 mpg or higher. Honda Motor Company,
Ltd is a major Japanese manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles worldwide (“Honda Motor
Company, Ltd.”). Honda was founded by founders Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa. Their
first engineered product was introduced in 1949, which was surprisingly a motorcycle! Today,
Honda is a world leader in the production of motorcycles but are more known for their
automobiles which debuted in 1963 and provides the company with most of their annual sales
(“Honda Motor Company, Ltd.”). There are also some very promising features when it comes to
this Honda Accord Hybrid. This 2021 Accord has a two-motor hybrid system which allows it to
operate on more electric power compared to other hybrids. In addition, there is a “brake-by-wire
system that allows for seamless breaking, and the hybrid powertrain allows for no input
switching with EV, Hybrid and Engine drive modes. This would be an efficient company car
given all its cost-effective technology.
Tesla’s are a growing brand that is beginning to catch the eye of consumers. With its sleek
looks and high technology, it becomes hard to refuse. Tesla was founded in 2003 by engineers
that wanted to push the efficiency of electric cars rather than gasoline cars. Tesla aims to create
all electric vehicles that provide a clean energy source. The Tesla model is one of the most
affordable cars in its portfolio according to “Tesla Model 3: All You Need to Know”. Tesla
Model 3 has a very distinct, sleek look with the unique incorporation of the “no grille” design. It
has a minimalist interior with a large touchscreen with all the car controls. This model is
powered by a Li-ion battery that has dual motors that distribute digitally based upon conditions
and can be changed out when needed. The superchargers across the country also provide
efficiency when travelling.
Mercedes Benz is a well-known luxury car and would bring a potential aspect of
sophistication to the fleet. Mercedes Benz was founded in 1926 by three men, one of which
whose daughters inspired the company’s name. According to Contify automotive news, The C-
Class delivers on every front you can think of safety, efficiency, and value, advancement in
design, engineering excellence, and performance of the intended function.” The Mercedes Benz
C-Class Coupe was also named the MotorTrend Car of the Year for its design, luxury interior,
advanced technology, and sophisticated safety systems. Very sleek business car that would bring
luxury to any company.
Lastly, there’s the Lexus GX 460 SUV. Lexus is known to be reliable; long-lasting luxury
car with its makers being those of the Japanese company Toyota. Lexus began in 1983 when
Japanese engineers came together to re-imagine luxury cars. The Lexus Website describes that
they hark on the hospitality spirit of Omotenashi to engage in their craft (“About Lexus”). The
Lexus GX 460 has great off-road capabilities, quiet interior, and driver assistance technology,
which includes an infotainment center. However, compared to other modern-day SUV’s the GC
460 doesn’t necessarily measure up. In addition, it isn’t the most affordable SUV and doesn’t
have the best fuel efficiency.
In conclusion, there are many important decisions to make when it comes to
choosing a fleet of vehicles for a company. Additionally, we must be good stewards of the
property we receive. Luke 12:48 says “From everyone who has been given much, much will be
required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.” Overall, there’s a
wide range of vehicles to choose from, the Honda Accord Hybrid seems like it would best fit
Nelson and Cleveland, Inc.
