Abstract
The use of interdisciplinary studies within a Christian viewpoint can broaden students that want
to expand their knowledge through their own fields. The foundation of interdisciplinary studies
lays the ground work for how the biblical viewpoint plays a part within interdisciplinary. The
biblical viewpoint and relationship it has with interdisciplinary studies, is that Gods words are an
encouragement for students to push themselves. The tools that the biblical viewpoint uses are it
changes the way that students see and think about solutions to a problem. The words of God have
been able to help encourage and keep students on track. In addition, interdisciplinary and biblical
viewpoints have changed the way Christians ask questions to a problem as well. For Christians,
they have made sure the teachings of God aren’t interpreted differently and have been able to
compare within interdisciplinary studies. It is always important to have some sort of structure
and a process in making sure that all questions and solutions are answered. The critical thinking
of students and the use of Hermeneutics process has changed on how to figure out problems of
the future. Even Christians can open up to new ideas and increase in what they learn within
interdisciplinary studies.

The importance to compare interdisciplinary studies to a biblical view is very important
within the article itself. The understanding of interdisciplinary studies within a college, that is
teaching about Gods words and how God can relate to actual college degrees. In order to be able
to compare the two together first interdisciplinary needs to be understood better. In addition, the
importance of comparing Gods words into an interdisciplinary study is very important and plays
a big part with everything. The main ideas of the article are first laying the foundation on
interdisciplinary studies, the second is how it relates to the students of universities and lastly on
how it doesn’t favor either a biblical view to interdisciplinary studies.
Biblical View
The biblical view plays an important role within interdisciplinary studies and how much
of it actually relates to it. As stated by Eckel (2015) “Depraved minds (Eph 4:17-19) are
reformed by the grace of God as salvation(Eph 4:20-24; Col 3:9-10) and should be in a constant
state of renewed thinking (Col 3:1, 2)” (p. 386). The relation to interdisciplinary studies is that it
has to have different types of studies that are changing the way of thinking, in order to figure out
a solution to a problem. The use of Gods words has helped many inventors and biblical figures
accomplish many different theories and actual scientific studies. As stated by Eckel (2015)
“Solomon, who gained his knowledge from God, honored his maker by using his mind for the
study of everything from botany to zoology” (p. 387).
The way of thinking is important within interdisciplinary studies and how a biblical
viewpoint can be important to have. In Gods words the teachings from them help those that are
seeking wisdom are able to see things at different view. In addition, Gods words has given those
that are seeking the knowledge of God the ability to boost others to learn it, and not to lose sight
of that knowledge. As stated by Eckel (2015) “Interdisciplinary education in Christian venues

can establish answers to the questions "how does everything fit together?" and "how does life
make sense?" There is an intersection and unification of heaven and earth, supernatural and
natural” (p. 387).
Interdisciplinary Studies
The comparison of a biblical viewpoint to an interdisciplinary is that Christians
understand “that pedagogical-andragogical practice is premised on mindset models” (Eckel,
2015, p. 388). In addition, interdisciplinary Christians make sure the integrity of Gods words and
the college education is intact. The reason being is that a biblical viewpoint can be intertwined
with interdisciplinary studies. In Proverbs 2:6 “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come
knowledge and understanding”. With all this comparison the actual use of it within a student
viewpoint is important, because it shows how interdisciplinary studies has boarded the minds of
those with a biblical viewpoint.
The students within a university need to understand that interdisciplinary studies and a
biblical viewpoint need to have some sort of structure. The reason being is that the structure
plays a role in making sure students stay on track for interdisciplinary studies. As stated by Eckel
(2015) “All courses of study taught by interdisciplinary Christian scholars should (a) initiate why
the subject should be studied, without apology, through a biblical lens” (p. 389). There are many
different examples on how interdisciplinary is used within a biblical viewpoint. An example
would be the use of God’s creation to create some sort of new medicine or even a new treatment
practice. This example is a prime example about how the knowledge of creating a new drug or
treatment coincides with the creation of Gods creations.
The use of thinking within Universities is important and with interdisciplinary studies it
helps students broaden their knowledge and wisdom. In Proverbs 18:15 “An intelligent heart

acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge”. The use of Hermeneutics is
important to incorporate within interdisciplinary, because usually it is study within one field and
that shouldn’t be the process. In order to include Hermeneutics is to put it into all fields and have
students learn on how the process of Hermeneutics works. The four process is selection,
rejection, interpretation, origination (Eckel, 2015, p. 391), this process can be incorporated
through interdisciplinary studies by having multiple fields to figure out a solution to the problem.
The biblical viewpoint within interdisciplinary helps Christian students open their
viewpoint on the world as a whole. In addition, it changes the way they are thinking about on
how to solve complex questions. The use of Gods words has helped many within the science
fields to create solutions to problems or even create new ideas. The wisdom that students get
from Gods words helps them create new ideas and broaden their viewpoint. The interdisciplinary
studies are a complex field, with many different fields of study as well. It’s important for
students to stay on track and to incorporate the interdisciplinary studies. The thinking of students
and how the Universities need to push them and encourage them to gain more knowledge and
wisdom through interdisciplinary studies.
