All Girls Need Sanitary Pads
In many third world countries and some part of world, one of the biggest outcry’s
in social issues is that girls need sanitary pads. Sanitary Pads that will sustain them and
them clean during school or any other activities they are supposed to do throughout
their day. I chose this topic because I want to know more about this issue so I can
further the work I want to do in my ministry. In an online article written by Charity
Ruzvizdo she explains the struggles that young girls in Africa are facing because of the
lack of sanitary pads. She says, “The lack of access to menstrual pads is exposing
women to various genital infections, as they are opting to use unhygienic methods such
as tissues, rags, cow dung or even leaves.” Aware of this dire situation afflicting women,
activists are now calling for African leaders to increase the accessibility of sanitary pads
to women and girls in order to improve their health.
Accord to www.path.org also proves that, providing a girl with underwear and
sanitary pads may increase her chances of staying in school more than 30%. Accord
to the article, Nancy Muller is continually impressed by the grace and ingenuity of
girls dealing with their menstrual periods. “Every month, all around the world,” she
says, “there are girls who don’t know what’s happening when they suddenly get their
menstrual period, who face shame and embarrassment and taboos around the
subject, and on top of all that, who don’t have easily available means to absorb the
blood.
In my recent research I found out that in some part of United State of
American, young girls are not going to school when they are menstruating, because
of the lack of feminine hygiene products (tennessean.com) .Young women in Middle

feminine hygiene products when they’re on their periods.
