Abstract
Throughout this paper, the different approaches of disaster management will be discussed. The
explanation and review of the disaster management process will be explored in the sections of
mitigation, prevention, preparedness, planning, response, and recovery. People need help and
assurance that they will be secure in any type of emergency that happens. Federal Emergency
Management Agency or FEMA is an organization within the Department of Homeland Security
that specializes in emergency planning and response. With this organization, along with several
others that are similar, communities can have some feeling of assurance knowing these
organizations are going to help when there is a disaster. The Bible states that people should be
able to be willing to help their neighbor when in need. Communities as a whole and the
individuals who are within that community need to be sure they are looking out for their
neighbor. The Bible also states, “treat your neighbor as you would want to be treated.” When
disaster strikes, neighbors who look out for one another can be life savers.
