MIDTERM ESSAYS INSTRUCTIONS
You will write 2 essays on separate topics and submit them as 1 assignment. For each essay, you
will write a 2–3-page research-based paper in current APA format. Each essay must include 5–7
references in addition to the course textbook and the Bible. This assignment will be submitted
through a SafeAssign link in Blackboard.
Other guidelines:
A Other guidelines:
All sources used in the paper must be properly cited and referenced. This includes:
o In-text citations for facts, statistics, information, and examples presented using the
author/date (author date, page number) format
The page number is required when a direct quote is used
o A Reference List or Bibliography, on a separate page, at the end of the paper
Note: the date of access is required for all web sources
o The use of footnotes is acceptable for the inclusion of supplemental material and
long quotes. Make sure that it is properly cited and referenced.
Note: The inclusion of Christian perspectives or opinions are part of your graded
assignment. Make sure that these are integrated in a coherent manner that fits the overall
tenor of your analysis.
When writing each paper, be sure to integrate material (cited and referenced) from all of
the readings assigned for that module. This demonstrates that you read, understood, and
are able to apply the week’s materials. Moreover, it is a graded component for each
paper.
Grace: You will have a considerable amount of freedom regarding writing style for each
essay, but write clearly and reflectively.
Essay #1 Instructions: Religion as a Factor in USFP (US Foreign Policy)
Watch the presentations “Exploring Religion and US Foreign Policy” in the Reading & Study
folder of Module/Week 1 and “The Future of Religious Pluralism in the Middle East” in the
Reading & Study folder of Module/Week 2.
After viewing these presentations, consider the following prompts in any order you choose to
organize your answer:
What is the basic problem with making religion a relevant factor in USFP? For example,
why do you think religious freedom agendas are not a top USFP priority? Or, differently,
why does America cultivate close strategic relationships with nations like Saudi Arabia
that foster an extremely intolerant form of Islamic belief and practice?
What seem to be the main obstacles to making religious values (Christian or other) of
foreign nations the basis for the conduct of USFP? In other words, why can American
Christians not simply demand that their government coerce foreign powers to accept its
version of religious freedom as a condition of any alliance?
Essay #2 Instructions: “Clash of Civilizations” or Muddleheaded Mush?

Read Huntington’s article, “Clash of Civilizations,” and watch the presentation “Clash of
Civilizations” in the Reading & Study folder of Module/Week 2.
After reading the article and viewing the presentation, consider the following prompts in any
order you choose to organize your answer:
In no more than 1 paragraph, summarize Huntington’s argument.
In another 1–2 paragraphs, defend Huntington’s argument’s plausibility or rational
defensibility. Why does he believe that the organization of conflict will increasingly
follow cultural-religious divisions?
In the remainder of the essay, critique the article. What are its shortcomings, weaknesses,
gaps, or faulty assumptions? Hint: Think about key US allies around the world. Are they
exactly like America ethnically, culturally, and religiously?
Submit this assignment by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 4.
Running head: ORGANIZATION BEHAVIOR 1
Organization Behavior

ORGANIZATION BEHAVIOR 2
Introduction
Organizational behavior is the study of how individuals or groups act within a company
where they work. Engagement in any organization is based on how effective organizational
behavior is practiced. The study involves determining the organization's behaviors, individuals,
and the groups formed in a company to perform a specific function. Organizational behavior is
essential in every company as it shows how the employees are treated and if ethics are
maintained in the company's operations. The study aims to improve the company's productivity,
create high job satisfaction, and avoid employee absenteeism. According to Akhmetshin (2020),
high competitiveness in the industry makes most organizations oblivious to the need to ensure
organizational behavior in the companies. This has raised a lot of concern as the hardworking
employees' needs may be neglected; hence, the company's ethical issues.
Learning Outcome
Every organization across the world has been affected by widespread pandemic because
of employee turnover. Some organizations were forced to shut down as they could not continue
with their effectiveness amid Covid-19. In Amazon, the employees' working environment
deteriorated as they sought preventive measures that were not effectively upheld in ensuring their
safety (Slinn,2020). Hence, the majority of the employees came out in numbers to complain
about their situation. Most of them posted their complaints across social media platforms to be
heard and necessary actions to be taken. In this case, the organization seeks to continue
increasing its productivity at the expense of the employees' safety, hence the whistleblowers' rise.
The company's warehouses continued to operate amid the pandemic, although many employees
had complained about the overcrowded distribution centers and lack of enough protective gear.
ORGANIZATION BEHAVIOR 3
The company's whistleblowers faced immediate termination, and no official
communication was provided regarding the employees' complaints. Amazon has only
concentrated on the organization's productivity organizations productivity rather than the
employees' welfare, whose main function is to ensure its productivity. The organization's
behavior, in this case, has not been upheld as it lacks balance between the organization's
objective and the welfare of the people involved in the organization. Amazon may face
employment litigation due to its fruitless effort in ensuring the protection of the employees. One
may come to their defense and say that the company is faced with an ethical dilemma on whether
to halt the organization's operations and lose profits or continue with its operation increasing its
productivity but jeopardizing the employees' health.
Recommendations to increase the likelihood of moral, ethical, or effective behavior in
future
The company can choose autocratic, custodial, supportive, and collegial models of
organizational behavior. The organization's power drives the autocratic model, hence
management involves authority to all its people. The custodial model is based on ensuring
benefits through money resources to its employees. In contrast, the collegial and supportive
models aim to ensure the employees' better involvement in the company's decision-making
(Gagné,2018). Amazon ought to use a supportive model whose managerial leadership is based
on supporting its employees to ensure better performance and great results. This model will
ensure an understanding between the organization and its employees, creating room for the
employee claims to be addressed. This model will ensure efficient organizational behavior where
all the company's objectives are arrived at without compromising its employees' safety.
ORGANIZATION BEHAVIOR 4
Through effective organizational behavior, the company's management will ensure quality
improvement and employees' productivity by empowering them by meeting their needs. A
supportive model will ensure ethics in the organizations, and therefore, decisions in the company
will be made by involving every stakeholder. Amazon should be able to frequently respond to
behavior with favorable measures to the company's objectives and the employee's needs.
Enhanced communication in the organization structure will ease the company's management in
understanding the underlying situations affecting its employees (Fichter, 2018). Maximum
involvement of people in the organization will embed appropriate ethical culture in the
organization, and hence, a company such as Amazon should measure how effective is their
ethical performance.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the leadership process at any level of the organization will impact the
outcome of the decisions made regarding the employees' needs. Effective leadership will call for
better performance of the overall company due to its employees' improved productivity. The
leaders should maintain ethics in governing the company's operation hence use a supportive
model of organizational behavior rather than an autocratic model, which will be influenced by
the role of power in management. The company should seek to use the appropriate ethical
theory, whose decision will ensure the most efficient outcome without making the staff feel
disadvantaged in their role. Rather than firing the whistleblowers, who are only concerned about
their colleagues' welfare, the company should develop a suitable organizational behavior model.
