Research Paper: Right to Privacy Preparation Assignment
Thesis Statement
Several questions will be answered throughout this paper such as is there a Constitutional
basis for Roe v. Wade or Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Regarding the right to
privacy and abortion, the question arises of if it fits within our Constitutional heritage.
Direction
This paper will examine the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade in 1973, as well as
the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment giving a woman a “right to privacy”
protecting a woman’s right to choose. This paper will further examine the overturning of Roe v.
Wade via the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and additionally review if
each case is in line with the Constitution, and is a woman’s right to an abortion and right to
privacy in line with our Constitutional heritage?
Outline
I. Roe v. Wade, is there a strong Constitutional basis in the ruling?
A. The Constitution protects one’s rights to liberty.
B. The due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment gave women a
“right to privacy” protecting a woman’s right to choose.
II. Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is there a strong Constitutional
basis in the ruling?
A. Contends that the Constitution does not give one the right to abort.
B. Contends that a women’s rights are not part of our nation’s founding or
part of “ordered liberty”.
III Right to Privacy, Constitutional Heritage and God’s Word
A. The Constitution does not specifically give one a “right to privacy”, this
came with the via the due process clause of Fourteenth
Amendment.

B. Our Constitutional Heritage is essentially based on a Christian Heritage in
which our country was founded.
C. God is the ultimate creator and did not intend for any innocent life to be
