The government has overstepped on Biblical issues when it comes to some of the
platforms within the Democratic Party. For years the Democratic party has been striving for
equality and the common good of people. Although the Democratic party has made some good
advances for the United States over the years, they have become consumed with thinking the
government should be providing goods for them, rather than viewing the government as a
protection of their rights and freedoms. Unfortunately the Democratic party has completely
looked past Biblical morals, and has overstepped in the platforms of abortion and same sex
marriage. Oftentimes when issues like this are brought up Democrats tend to think that Christian
morals should not be pushed on everyone since not everyone is a Christian. Yet what they are
failing to recognize is that the United States was founded with Christian morals in mind due to
our founding fathers Christian faith. “Nearly all of the founders had an appreciation for the
ethical value of biblical faith as a moral foundation of American political culture. In their minds
personal faith cultivated public virtue, the bedrock of a republic of liberty.”(Was America., n.d.).
The Democrats have not only come to overstep Biblical morals, but also the foundation that the
United States was built upon.
To start, the first overstep of government within these Biblical issues is the platform of
abortion. The Democratic party is pro choice, and to people within the Democratic party abortion
is a women's choice and an essential aspect of healthcare. No matter what justifications
individuals try to make, the truth is that abortion is murdering babies in the womb. The initial
overstep of government began in 1973 with Roe v. Wade. Essentially in this Supreme Court case
a mother in Texas had gotten pregnant and did not want to keep the baby. Since abortion in Texas
was illegal at this time she filed a lawsuit, which became known as Roe v. Wade. “McCorvey
filed a federal lawsuit under the pseudonym "Jane Roe" to have this law declared

unconstitutional. Roe argued that a law prohibiting her from obtaining an abortion violated her
constitutional right to privacy”(McCall, 2023). The Supreme Court ended in a 7-2 vote “that
Texas's law criminalizing abortion care violated her right to privacy”(McCall, 2023). The pivotal
standpoint at this time by the Supreme Court was a women's right to privacy which was
somehow implied by the 14th amendment. In the eyes of the Democrats their fight for abortion
seems justifiable because they want to protect the mothers, however in the eyes of God this fight
is shedding innocent blood. According to the Bible, God refers to children as a blessing from the
Lord and reassures us of His creation of babies in the womb. “You formed my inward parts; you
wove me in my mothers womb”(NASB,1995, Psalm 139:13). Not only does God affirm the
creation of children, but He also makes it clear many times throughout the Bible that murder is
detestable. “You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not murder, and whoever
murders will be in danger of judgment”(NASB,1995, Matt. 5:21). Over and over God makes it
clear that those who murder will be held accountable for killing another human.
Furthermore, another overstep of government from the Democratic party can be seen
with same sex marriage. Because of a Supreme Court ruling in 2015, same sex marriage became
legal in all 50 states in the United States. Democrats continue to push for the acceptance of gay
marriage and many Democratic candidates promote acceptance of it in their platforms. As our
current president Joe Biden is a big advocate for gay marriage, when signing the respect for
Marriage Act in 2022 he stated “For millions of LGBTQI+ Americans and interracial couples,
this is a victory. And it is part of a larger fight. The Dobbs decision reminds us that fundamental
rights are interconnected, including the right to marry who you love, the right to access
contraception, and the right to make decisions about your own body”(Biden, 2022). Often times
the issues of gay marriage and abortion go hand in hand because they are two controversial

issues that somewhat coincide. Both issues are advocated for as the betterman and protection of
individuals. The reality of same sex marriage though according to Biblical standards is that it is a
sin to be in a relationship with someone who is the same sex as you. “Or do you not know that
the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor
drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you;
but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord
Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God”(NASB,1995,1 Cor. 6:9-11). In this passage of scripture
God makes it clear that homosexuality is not acceptable, yet he also offers hope for those who
decided to turn from sin and be made new in Christ. Since the beginning of the Bible in Genesis
God was intentional that marriage should only be between a man and woman. “For this reason a
man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one
flesh”(NASB,1995,Gen. 2:24). God's beautiful intention for marriage is for the benefit of the
people He created, yet many only see His intention as a restriction from living their life to the
fullest.
Overall the Democratic party has chosen to overlook the standard of Biblical morality.
Through the promotion of killing children in the womb and advocating for same sex marriage,
the Democratic party is hurting people more than what is realized. Even though some may think
that the Democratic party is promoting peace and acceptance, the reality is that their promotion
of sin will lead to a life of emptiness without Christ. “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who
abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing”(NASB,
1995, John 15:5). Life without Christ is fruitless, yet those who decide to put their trust in Him
will experience joy and everlasting life. Democrats need to understand the importance of the
