Communication of the Gospel
Introduction
Communication is one of the tools that efficiently improve relationships and connections,
and operative communication is important in attaining the same. Among the various aspects
through which collaboration effectively takes place between two parties. Mostly, communication
is divided into two parts – verbal and non-verbal communication. Broadly, communication is
divided into two parts – verbal and non-verbal communication. Verbal communication refers to
sharing information or messages between two or more persons who use language elements such
as words, phrases, sentences, and many more. These are fundamentals of verbal communication
for transmission of any messages or information. Some of the key elements of verbal
communication are the Presence of text and sound, Grammatical acceptability of words, phrases,
and sentences, Formation of an acceptable sentence, Application of quality and correct rhythm,
tone, pitch, and volume, Audibility of sentence or presentation, Mixing of emotions with sound
and text, Clarity and conciseness of information. Nonverbal communication deals with non-
textual and non-sound features that use various gestures, postures, eye contact, physical contact,
and space. The combination of these terms is called body language. In communication, it means
to say that it is not only the word or sound that conveys meaning but also various actions and
body language reactions. So, in speaking, what matters most is not just text or sound but also
how it is presented. Besides, the way one sits, how one gets up, the way one walks, and the way
one stands while speaking make a difference and impact the process and objective of
communication. So, in the field of non-verbal communications, some of the points that should be
borne in mind are: Stand erect without bending one’s body, ensure eye contact with the audience,
not to look to the left, right, top and down,
3
keep equal weight on both legs, Maintain distance based on the relationship with the
person one is speaking, Keep a smiling face while talking, Wear a clean and tidy dress, Shake
hand firmly without showing loose contact, Keep rhythm, tone, and pitch based on the emotion
of the presentation, not showing unnecessary gestures and postures, and not scratching or
twitching one’s head, hand, nose or any parts of the body.
Elements of Communication
There are five fundamental elements evident in any communication process.
Consequently, these elements include feedback, channel, message, sender, and receiver. In this
communication process, the message is expressed, sent, or communicated from the sender or the
communicator. The sent or transmitted message, order, or information, is meant to reach or is
aimed at receivers. In this process, the process refers to the subject matter.
1
In other words, it
relates to the content of the suggestion, idea, information, order, speech, or letter. The message
transmitted from the sender to the receiver must go through a media, otherwise called a
communication channel. The understanding and the information is passed through this media to
the receiver. Therefore, the communication channel connects the receiver and the sender. Lastly,
feedback is the reaction, reply, or the effect of the information passed to the receiver. For
successful communication, feedback is essential.
The aspect of self-concept is essential in influencing communication. Self-concept affects
an individual's behavior, attitude, and perception, as seen during the interpersonal
communication process. Self-concept is controlled by the aspects of the individual's self-life.
Consequently, this will affect both the way people perceive the individual and how they perceive
themselves.
2
Such elements of an individual's life include psychological type, motivational level,

and gender. Therefore, the individual needs to understand himself or herself to be able to
communicate effectively with others. Consequently, this is self-concept. It is clear that it greatly
influences the way the individual communicates. In any communication process, before
understanding one's perception of the situation, and how these perceptions affect their
communication, the importance of self-concept must be understood first. In Miriam's family, I
would encourage the mother to emphasize her family to have a self-concept. To have a two-way
understanding with me and others, the family will need that ability to believe they can make it;
they can communicate and be understood without holding back.
Communication can be affected by perception. The way one individual perceives
communicated or said things is different from how another individual will perceive the same
things.
3
This means that one individual can take or consider the transmitted or said something
different from someone else. Therefore, if individuals consider things wrong, they can make
communication to get hurtful or angry. I would encourage the issue of perception. American
culture is not the same as where Miriam's family came from. They are used to a more reserved
culture; people do not use verger language. It is different in America, and they should not feel
offended when such cases happen. Practical listening skills and habits can be demonstrated in a
process constituting four primary keys. These keys are, Tune in, Question, Listen, and Review.
4
It means that the student should be tuned in right from the start of the lecture, determine the
speaker's topic, and recall what they already understand about the subject. The question aspect,
on the other hand, implies that after being punctual for the lecture, the student should be listening
while asking himself or herself some questions in his or her mind like the point being made by

the speaker, the support devices being used by the speaker, the specific parts to be remembered.
In this way, the student would understand the key ideas presented.
Listening is another strategy that involves determining the primary message being
communicated apart from answering the raised questions during the learning process. This can
be accomplished by anticipating the things to be said and taking in the said things. Listening
always require active alertness. Lastly, the idea of reviewing is another essential strategy
resulting in ineffective listening. Studying is about checking on or referring to the anticipated
message following the delivery of the message. Therefore, the reviewing process calls for
Miriam's family to evaluate the communicated message against different questions. The other
things involved in the review process are fitting ideas together, summarizing the images, and
considering the message's meaning and influence based on the student's circumstances. If the
family practices good listening skills, it will be easier for them daily activities such as doctor's
appointments and glossaries. Language is one of the factors responsible for the creation of
communication problems. When people are working or living in a multilingual environment,
language differences can result in communication problems.
5
This is because the language
barriers will alienate feelings among the involved, unintended conflicts, and misunderstandings.
Considering that Mr. and Mrs. Miriam were teachers from their country, I would encourage them
to learn English since it is commonly used in America. They should also teach their children to
be more comfortable for children to survive in American schools.
Nonverbal cues from one of the other factors to consider when it comes to
communication. Asperger's syndrome is a medical condition characterized by the use of
inappropriate nonverbal cues.
6
These kinds of nonverbal cues have been very frustrating and

irritating to those around the users of this communication form. The problems created are
different. Walking too close to other people during the communication process is, for instance,
frustrating to many people. Some people even bump into their colleagues or friends while
communicating. Talking too loudly right in the faces of the people is also a frustrating nonverbal
cue. Other people do not even sense that they have gone past the limits despite the nonverbal
cues send by the people being talked to, showing the need for the conversation to be ended.
Another frustrating nonverbal cue is that of looking away from other people while they are
talking to you. In addition to looking out, some people even go an extra mile of walking off
abruptly even before the other person has not finished a sentence. Therefore, from these
illustrations, we can see that the nonverbal cues bring many communication problems.
Nonverbal communication problems can be resolved in three different ways. One of the
methods is that of relaxing oneself, building comfortable body sense, and bodily self-awareness.
7
The other way is that of trying to learn non-verbal social communication scientifically. This
involves the act of making scientific observations while practicing and experimenting with non-
verbal communication. Lastly, the nonverbal communication problems can be resolved using an
unconditionally loving, nonjudgmental environment to practice non-verbal communication
regularly.
Cultural value orientation
The methods of resolving the verbal communication, on the other hand, involve tackling
the cultural barriers, making assumptions, and resolving confusing messages. Regarding the
tackling of the cultural barriers is by learning more about the heritage and the culture of the
others. This will avoid losing the full statement that results from the inadequate translation of

some phrases from one language into the other. Making assumptions will help resolve
misunderstandings of the opponent's meaning during an argument or a debate. The premise here
involves relaxing and not reacting. It consists of analyzing what is being said by the other person
without personalizing the discussion. Lastly, resolving confused messages involves repeating the
other person's concerns to understand everything correctly and clearly without missing the point.
Rephrasing the main issues is a beneficial strategy in this case.
The personal strategies that can lead to effective intercultural communication include
knowledge, assumption, active listening, and intermediaries. It is essential to understand the
critical problems of cross-cultural communication and try to provide solutions to them. On the
other hand, the assumption implies adjusting the behavior appropriately, assuming that your
effort in touch is not always successful. On the other hand, active listening can overlook
misunderstandings that are brought by the different use of words between cultural groups and
languages. Lastly, intermediaries, with some familiarity with both cultures, are resourceful in
bridging cross-cultural barriers in communication. These people will do the translation of both
manner and substance of what is said.
Miriam's family's best way to catch up to communication elements is by practicing
among themselves while they are at home. They will be able to collect one another as well as
recommending where one needs to improve. While interacting with other people, they need to
evaluate if they can communicate understandably and get what they need.
God’s story
God is termed as the Mighty, morally acceptable, an omnipotent being. He is termed as
the creator of the whole universe who existed before everything else. God is viewed as the
holiest being that should be obeyed and worshipped. In the book of Genesis, He is seen to be
8
there before the world began, and He proceeded to create the world. According to the Bible,
people must be careful to present the gospel accurately, which will be achieved by recognizing
the key elements. One of the elements that describe God's story is that all people are sinners, and
God is the only holy one (2 Timothy 2:15).
8
In this case, God indicates that there should be bad
news so He can show the good news to the counter. The bad news is that all people are sinners
who may be through ignorance while sometimes through knowledge. The good news is that God
has brought the gospel. God knew that humans could not satisfy His righteous demands because
of the inability to improve themselves; thus, God sending His son to redeem His people (Romans
5:6-8).
9
Another element of God’s story is that Jesus is the only way to the Father (2 Corinthians
5: 18-19).
10
In this case, God reconciled humans through Christ and provided them the ministry
of reconciliation. God never counted the sins of men when He reconciled them to Him.
However, God is described under some elements that describe Him. One of the elements
in nature. The element of nature entails dual areas of influence that the majority tends to
overlook. Nature contains aspects such as plants, sky, air, among others. Therefore, God made
nature as He began His creation to ensure that the world has some life in it. The other element is
of God’s story is water, which is the slickest. Water includes pall of its aspects and forms such as
lakes, oceans, seas, among others. The forms of water include snow, ice, and steam. There is also
the presence of various temperature-related capacities, which are harmful in most cases. Fire is
another element that describes God’s story. The fire element, which is the deadliest, proceeds
beyond that of the simple combustion and administration of ignition, employs materials such as
smoke, ash, molten substances, and other derivatives of fire itself.
11
The other element is the

earth, which includes controlling all forms of metals, dirt, stones, and planetary forces, such as
gravity and the strongest.
12
Light, which is another element of God’s story, contains the apparent dominance that
dominates over all the conceivable features of light itself.
13
However, the element of light also
includes certain telekinetic, telepathic, and psychological powers in its jurisdiction. Additionally,
science is also considered an aspect of light since it is not viewed as a contradiction of magic.
Darkness is another element of God’s story, which contains a wide range of capabilities of a
chilling nature.
14
Some of the themes that revolve around the element of darkness include fear,
death, and madness. These themes dominate ordinary powers over more basic factors and
shadows. Spirit is another element that describes Go’s story, where it extends its reach over
life.
15
Spirit also includes powers of durability, strength, speed, among others. Other aspects
include mental and several imagination-based powers that in large capacity. Air is the swiftest
element of God’s story, which entails the basic form that supports life.
16
Air is the value of life.
Different things entail the communication process, right from fundamental elements
found in a communication process, through the influences of self-concept on communication, to
the personal strategies that enhance effective intercultural communication. We have also look at
some aspects to do with effective habits and skills in listening, the perception of the effects has
on communication, a language barrier in communication, communication problems resulting
from nonverbal cues, and resolution of verbal and non-verbal communication problems. The
entire discussion is constructive in one way or the other to anyone with the mind of honing their

communication skills. It is important to understand that communication is not successful if the
entire communication, which includes the sender's existence, the recipient, the message, and the
approach of communication method, do not exist. In written message, avoidance of ambiguity,
clarity, practical expression such as through illustrative communication, useful linguistic
capability, and evasion of communication obstructions should be considered ensure that the
transported communication is compelling.
