Introduction
Mission Statement
My mission is to aid and assist the homeless population that lives in the downtown area of
Roanoke, VA by providing them with the basic needs that necessary to survive.
General Overview and Rationale
Homelessness is serious issue that is plaguing our nation. From big cities such as San
Francisco and New York City, to smaller cities such as Roanoke. According to a report from the
Blue Ridge Continuum of Care, there was a decrease in homelessness (BLUE RIDGE
CONTINUUM OF CARE, 2022). But the number is still at roughly 220 people which is still a
high number for the city and region (Jaxtheimer, 2022). One time when I was walking around
downtown Roanoke, I noticed that the homeless population often do not have clean clothes or
other basic necessities to assist them. While the ultimate goal is for them to no longer be
homeless, the need to assist them in their current state is just as important as well. The main goal
