Why did David place the ark in a tent in Jerusalem (2 Samuel 7:17) rather than returning it to the Holy
of Holies within the Tabernacle at Gibeon?
The whole Chapter of 2 Samuel 7 is mainly devoted to the giving of the Davidic Covenant, but prior to
that is where the scriptures discuss in 2 Samuel 6:17 “And they brought in the Ark of the Lord and set
it in it’s place inside the tent that David had pitched for it. Prior to that David flees Jerusalem and
successfully recovers the ark of the covenant from the Jebusites (2 Sam 5-6). This sets the stage for
what is the start of the Kingship of David. Then God spoke to the Prophet Nathan (2 Samuel 7:5-16
saying his covenant has been in a tent all this time that he was living in a house God provided and
the ark of the covenant is in a tent and questioned why a house was not built for the covenant. Then
God basically in summary said He will make a house for David and establish his kingdom forever. In 2
Samuel 7:17 Nathan spoke all this to David of what the Lord revealed.
David placed the ark of the covenant in a tent for protection after he had regained the ark from the
Jebusites. Prior to that, the Ark was only housed in tents since Mt. Sinai. Even King Saul brought the
Ark to a temporary war camp area (1 Samuel 14:18) then moved on a cart for about three months to
Obed/Edom.
Then the Lord became angered because he was being disrespected by Uzzah and struck him down
right there (2 Samuel 6:7-8). At first, when David realized the power the Ark had he was afraid to take
the ark of the covenant into the city of David. And eventually did and honored the Lord with festivals
and dancing. He placed the Ark in the tent due to the problems that occurred with the cart and
touching of the Ark was bringing death and sorrow. Having it in the tent was a way to protect it until
such time as he built a new permanent temple to house the Ark of the Covenant.
This concludes the class assignment aside from the test, But I hope that you all have survived
through this Alleged virus that is nothing more than a bad flu and using it as a way to get control and
take our religious freedoms away which they have attempted to do. Sadly, lots of churches were not
holding services which is the fist time since Jesus and the churches did not stand up. Know this, that
no man can take our rights to practice our religion. Remember that Satan has no power, only what
mankind gives him.

I personally know of no other reliable or trusted Biblical resource other than the ESV and NASB Bible! The Wilmington
Guide actually goes so many things I believe in and about my Christian Faith to use anything other than the true Word
of God, all the other supposed Biblical resources I read over the years have many false or inaccurate statements as to
what the actual Word of God says. Jesus refers to any learning other than the Word of God as false teachings. The
Bible states in Revelations 22:18-19: “I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if
anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away
from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city,
which are described in this book.”
