The main reason why the prophecy of Hosea is probably widely known is because of the
scandal of Hosea's marriage to Gomer. In many instances, prophets, for example, Hosea, are
called to fulfil Gods Word in deeds. Hosea's prophecy embodies God's command for him to
marry an immoral woman; this command was because "the land commits great whoredom by
forsaking the Lord" (Hos.1:6). This continues to the naming of his kids. He named his daughter
'No Mercy' (Hos. 1:6) and his son 'Not My People' (Hos.1:9) Routledge, (2018). Hosea's
marriage was a prophetic sign-act that reveals the extent to which God is willing to go to awaken
us from our sinful ways. Gods son dying on the cross and Hosea's marriage are a revelation of
the boundless love of God in Christ.
Through Hosea's marriage, the Lord has taught His people despite being unfaithful to
Him; He can never divorce them. This principle still stands; despite us being grossly unfaithful to
Christ, a person can reestablish their relationship with Christ if only they can turn back to Him
with full perseverance of heart.
Suffering can be challenging, and human beings can question how a kind and loving God
can allow suffering. In the scriptures, Job suffered the most from having a good family and a lot
of wealth to losing everything, his children, wealth, livestock, friends and his relationship with
His wife. He never cursed God. However, he instead praised Him (Job 1:20-21) Van Loon,
(2018). David was an anointed King and was chosen by God, but Soul tormented him, and he
wanted to kill him. David kept running and hiding, he lived in caves, and he survived on what his
loyal men could find. When an opportunity to kill Saul presented itself, he didn't kill him because
he had a good heart. As Christians, we are called to suffer for Christ.
