Glitzy Chiks: Self-Evaluation Assessment
Introduction
Doing a self-assessment is suitable for improvements where I share how much progress I
have made on the job during a certain amount of time. The objectives that I will address are what
I have learned and how I learned it, the training available to assist my proficiency and growth in
the area so far since I’ve interned, describe the training available to assist my proficiency and
growth in this area articulate how this learning objective is relevant to my primary and career
goals. I will be able to give examples of how I might include this on a resume or discuss it in an
interview.
Overview Objectives
While interning, I learned that it takes a lot to run a business. The time and effort that has
to go into it a lot. I’ve learned that even when I don’t want to get up and go to work, I have to
because to have it, I have to get it. I learned it because Ms. Trisha depends on her employees to
help run her business. I’ve learned that despite having a personal life, you cannot allow things to
consume you. I have to make sure that I do a self-awareness and reflection check. I’ve learned
that I have strengths and weaknesses when working in retail, and I must continue to build on my
strengths and strengthen my weaknesses.
I’m very limited in training to assist my proficiency and growth in working the cash
register and closing operation. When I watch the process, it doesn’t seem to be hard to catch on. I
often take myself to shadow when working the register and the sales closeout. I can say that I’ve
grown in working with different personalities. I communicate more with the other employees by
building a good rapport with them to ensure that all needs are met within the store and with
customers. I think I help contribute by giving the other employees opportunities to enjoy time off
3
and knowing that I can be dependable working the floor by helping with customers and
organizing the store. I’m confident now with my workspace that I don’t have to wait or be told
what to do. I can come in, see things and begin to work on them.
I know that I still have much to learn about owning and running a business which is my
career goal. Like before, you’re limited in what you can do when interning. I will continue to
absorb as much as I can, letting it be known that I can open to learning much more through this
process. I would love to have this under my belt to add to my work experiences on my resume.
The more I know, the more I can list under my work experience. Communication with others and
customers is vital because serving in the fashion industry is ministry.
I was able to experience an encounter with a customer all because I asked if she needed
any assistance with her shopping. The customer and I discussed certain styles that will
compliment her, ones she can have fun with, and ones she can wear. To make a long story short,
the customer ended up opening up to me that she lost her partner due to him committing suicide
and hard it has been for her to move on. She has been depressed because she also misses him,
and his family has completely cut her off. They came and took his body back to Florida, not
allowing her to get her final goodbyes or even letting her know where he was buried. She told
me they had been in a relationship for over two years.
I was able to minister to her about the peace of God and having a relationship with him
will give her all she needs to move forward. “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in
all things at all times, having all that you need,3you will abound in every good work” 2
Corinthians 9:8 (Bible Gateway Hebrew NIV, 1993). I also shared with her that Christian
counseling is something she needs to do because depression is natural. I also shared with her that
the devil is here to kill, steal and destroy. I encouraged her to allow God to come in and heal her;
4
I continued to share many encouraging words and tell her about Christ being the center of my
life and accepting him so that he could lead and guide her through this pain and heal her. I could
pray with her and invite her to visit with me at church one day. She stated that she needed to find
a church and would come and visit one day. We exchanged numbers, and I told her that God got
her and that I would check on her.
Conclusion
I something times wonder why things happen the way it does. I know that the more days I
intern, the more I see that this is my calling. Sharing this Christian life with others who know or
don’t know him for themselves is rewarding. I’ve learned that through this self-assessment that
I’m not afraid to talk about my Lord, Jesus Christ. I’m confident in him as he is in me. I must
always be ready when it comes to ministering or witnessing. I’ll never know when and where
someone will need Jesus Christ. Through self-assessment and self-reflection, I know I’m about
to see the God we serve and how good he is. “Therefore, as we have an opportunity, let us do
good3to all people, especially those who belong to the family3of believers” Galatians 6:10 (Bible
Gateway Hebrew NIV, 1993).
