PROMOTING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY 2
Creative Demonstrative Assignment (Short Story)
As a starting fitness coordinator, I knew I could not do this project alone. Individuals all
around me are suffering with diseases/ conditions because of poor nutrition and lack of physical
activity. Right now, my goal is to help others with finding fun and creative ways to incorporate
physical activity before I focus on nutrition. But as I said before, I knew I could not do this
alone; I knew I had to find someone who understood and supported my goals so the two of us
could help the world. The amount of mortality rates in this country due to a lack of physical
activity and growth in diseases/conditions is alarming and it is time to make that change.
As I have grown in my studies, I realized how many people have forgotten the Creator of
the universe and how He has orchestrated us to take care of our bodies. So, I have interviewed a
few Faith Sectors to be my next partner because I believe they will see eye-to-eye on my views
of how vital physical activity is within the economy. After a couple of interviews with a few
different people, I found the perfect candidate to assist me in my project. Her name is Amelia
Jones, a faith-based author on nutrition and exercise. After interviewing her and getting to know
her views on God and how we should be taking care of our bodies through Him, we were both
ready to partner up and get started right away.
As of now, we are both sitting in my office discussing what our next moves will be.
Amelia starts, “Hey, I was thinking, obesity usually starts within youth or adolescent age, right?”
I nodded my head at her words as a smile crept on my face. I had an idea of where she was going
with this, and I was more than eager to hear her out.
“Well, what if you and I start up a summer camp for kids between the ages of five to 18?
I know it does not sound like much, but I believe if we get a few to sign up, it can grow. During
the summer, we can coach them on the importance of physical activity within a day and how it is

super important to keep God front and center of it all.” She explained. I loved the idea. I thought
it would be great! Kids do love summer camp! They can make new friends, learn to love the
Lord, and spread the knowledge of physical activity to others in the school year. Giving them a
good three months to learn at the same time as having fun was a great way to start.
Amelia and I immediately started planning. Since she loved spending one-on-one time with
children, we agreed on her role being the lead camp counselor. Since I loved working behind the
desk and organizing events, we agreed on me running the camp and all the projects. Excitement
grew on our faces as we realized we may have found the game-changer needed to provide the
knowledge and opportunities for children to incorporate physical activity without boring them.
As we started planning how the camp was going to run, we decided to establish a few common
goals.
“Here, I was thinking…” Amelia started. I sat at the edge of my seat with excitement
dancing across my face. In this moment, I knew we were doing God’s work, and I was more than
willing to oblige.
“We’ve got three good months with these kids, which is not usually a whole lot of time to
school them as well as allow them to have fun while doing so. So, we need to establish a few
common goals to make this work.” She explained.
I thought for a moment, a little confused but ready to face the challenge.
“Okay, I see what you are saying.” I replied with excitement.
“Here are a few goals I had taken the time to write out before we met.” She handed me a
sheet of paper with three goals. I was expecting more, but the three she wrote spoke volumes.
1. To provide a safe place to learn and love God.
2. To teach children the important of exercise, with different activities so they can do so.

3. To allow them to carry on these traits amongst their peers.
I looked down with amazement.
“Amelia, these are amazing. To others it may not seem like much, but with us working
together, this is going to work out greatly!” I cheered. She smiled at me with joy filling her face.
I knew she was enjoying this as much as I was.
“Amelia, I was thinking…” I started. I was a bit nervous about asking the question God
has called me to ask her. I did not know whether she would enjoy being my partner or just
wanting to participate in this project and then leave.
“What’s up?” She asked.
I cleared my throat.
“I was thinking, if this project goes well and things work out well between us, would you
like to be my permanent partner in promoting physical activity around the world?”
She stared at me for a moment with a look I could not recognize. I started to feel anxious at
what her answer would be, but after a few, she answered.
“Amy, if I am going to be honest with you, I would say that if all things go very well and
we seem pretty compatible, I believe we would make a great team.”
My eyes widened at her words. Things were finally looking up. From what I have been trying
to accomplish these last few years, God is finally giving me the chance to make things right and
do what He has called me to do.
“Could I ask you another question?” I asked as I shifted in my chair. Amelia’s eyes
focused hard onto mine as she waited for me to speak.
“What is your long-term goal in this?”

She stared at me with curiosity. I did not know whether if was because she was genuinely
confused at my question, or if I caught her off guard.
“Well, if I am going to be honest with you, Amy, then I would tell you that my long-term
goal for this is to integrate the knowledge of physical activity within children at a young age, so
they are more likely to carry it on in their adult years. Studies show that if you teach a child
young, then they would more than likely carry on the teachings and habits in their older years.
Plus, I would love to share the love I have for Jesus so they could do the same if they wanted to.”
She explained.
I nodded in satisfaction at her answer. She and I were on point with what we wanted to do
together to help others achieve their goals.
“That sounds absolutely perfect!” I exclaimed.
“What about you, Amy? What goals do you have for this summer camp idea?” She asked
me.
“The same as yours. It does shock me how much we have in common with this project. I
am more than willing to assist a healthier lifestyle for children so we can lower the percentage
rates of obesity, heart disease, cancers, strokes, and any contributing factors to cardiovascular
disease.” I answered.
“Then I strongly believe we will do very well together.” She replied.
“There are a few more things we should discuss before making this partnership official.”
I explained. Amelia nodded her head with glee. When I looked at her, I knew her and I would see
eye to eye on our goals, which made the whole process of planning much easier.
“But for now, we should talk about a few methods we can use to find creative ways for
these children to exercise without feeling as though it is a chore. The more boring it is, the less

likely they would want to continue in the future. When the kids get to the camp, I want to hand
out a paper form for them to fill out. It would consist of them checking off their favorite
activities to do such as football, kickball, soccer, etc.? Then, what we can do after that is create
fun ways to play these games, so everyone is more incline to join.” Amelia explained.
“That is a wonderful Idea?” I exclaimed.
She and I smiled at each other.
“Alright, I know you and I talked about you leading the camp while I council the kids,
correct?” Amelia asked.
I nodded.
“Okay, should we hire a few more people to help run the kids and I can be the lead camp
counselor and not have to manage each kid alone at the same time as trying to make sure things
run as planned?” She continued.
I nodded my head again.
“Sweet. Now, I know it can be a lot to run one camp alone. Is there anything I can do to
assist you?” She asked.
“I am pretty good at techy jobs and organizing events, but what I will need help in is
leading the events and making sure all the kids are safe. How can we work together on that?” I
asked while leaning onto my desk.
“Okay, here’s an idea. We can hire a cleaning crew to look after the kid’s messes while I
help lead the events. The counselors we do hire, we can split the kids up into groups for each
counselor and they take each group of children to the activities assigned. Then, I can go and
check on them while you handle the computer work and making sure the safety is ensured for
them?” Amelia offered.

I thought about it for a moment. If we get just the right amount of people, we can pull this off.
“My strength is tech and yours is organization, then I believe we can tag team this and
make it work.” I spoke. She smiled at me.
“Amy White, I believe we have ourselves a strong and stable partnership. Let’s take the
world by storm and get these children back to being healthy again. With God, all things are
possible.”
Just then, we shook hands.
I found the right person I needed to make this possible.
