Reference Page Assignment
The case study for this project is on a high school baseball player that is looking to
improve his bat speed, overall explosiveness, and change of direction speed. Currently, he has
been following a three-day training plan for the past two off-seasons. He would like to dedicate
more of his training time to speed, plyometrics, and agility. This discussion will review four
different articles that underline which styles of training will be most effective in improving the
areas listed above.
The articles by Buhmann et al. and Kim et al. help to answer the question on plyometric
training and how it influences baseball athletes. By reviewing this information, it will also help
out other athletes and sports as well because the majority of sports have a form of agility and
speed within. Additionally, the article by Klein et al. helps to give the reader a look at guidelines
for baseball players during their off-season training. This specific article is helpful in concluding
whether or not the training plan would be effective for this baseball player.
Lastly, Crocker et al. provides insight on different training techniques and bat velocity for
baseball players. This is crucial for baseball players because it will help determine the different
types of training that is most beneficial for them and ways to improve their batting technique,
which will help our subject in his bat speed. The final assignment will utilize all of this
information to conclude what training should look like for this baseball player and how his
training will be evaluated. It is important when planning these types of training plans to
investigate the most recent studies, to use the best methods possible and to provide the athletes
with the most relevant information to help the succeed.
