Life change through Evangelism 525
Proverbs 29:18-19 says where there is no vision, the people perish. This verse is
not just something we tweet or share from stage but this is something each and everyone
of us should strive to live out. As this course comes to a close and I reflect back on what I
have learned and now know. I am so thankful for this education I am getting and the
skills it is teaching me. I am confident because of this class and many others I will be a
better pastor, reader, husband, friend, and most of all a christ follower. Just alone in this
class I have learned over three different ways to share my faith, I have found two apps
that can go with me whenever to assist me if needed with verse and information to help
others come to know Jesus. I learned that by serving others, I can help soften their hearts
and open their ears before I share my own agenda down their throats. Not only does this
make most sense but it WORKS! After a couple of weeks in this course I found that I tell
everyone else to have a vision for their life but I did not have one specially for me. So
after much thought and prayer I came up with “ Living a life of abundance , through
God’s word in his way” this vision statement incorporates two scriptures. Now to him
who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the
power at work within us ( Ephesians 3:20) and (Matthew 28:19 -20 )Go therefore and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And
behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” What these scriptures bring to the
statement is a call to trust God and expect him to do more in my life than I can or think
and to follow him daily, which means accepting his call to go out everyday and share his
word. While it sounds good the only way it’s going to really make a difference is if I am
willing to live this out.
On a practical level this looks like first starting my morning off in prayer, next
verbally outlaid reading and declaring this over myself and then once a week practicing
sharing my faith. My plan is to commit to going to the same place every week and
building relationships with the staff at a restaurant and one time inviting them into church
and even a relationship with Jesus. As for my ministry because I believe this is so
important I am adding a monthly training night to our church, where we will teach and
equip our people with how to be servant evangelists. Essentially all the notes from this
class I will be teaching!
As an optimistic young pastor and husband I can sometimes get too ahead of
myself and not think through all the details but because I have been called to lead not just
in my own life but my church and family, it is imperative that I don’t just gloss over this
and truly put together an action plan. By nature I perform as an extravert, my wife
however is the opposite. She is an introvert and loves every moment of being alone. She
loves Jesus and wants to share the Gospel but her natural nature is not to. If we are honest
I don’t think it's anyone's nature to naturally walk up to someone as ask “ if they know
Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior” but what I have learned from this class is that If I
can lead my family and in this case my wife because we have no kids then I will not only
be setting our marriage up in accordance to scripture but also setting our future family up
for success by giving them them a a plan to walk into before they even arrive into this
world. By the time kids are around in my home, this evangelism plan will be something
that will be second nature for my wife and I. We will model sharing Jesus so naturally
that my kids will believe everyone does it! What this looks like is every Friday going to
our local top golf at 3 pm and building relationship.
I am so thankful for this course and thankful for that I have said yes to Jesus and
that because I have accepted his grace and mercy it my right as a believer to share that
same good news to everyone else. I no longer want to participate and now repent of the
sin of silence.
