Summary
The Great Commission to Worship: Biblical Principles for Worship-Based Evangelism is a book
that not only draws parallels between worship and evangelism but also directly connects them. It
helps the reader understand that there is a transformation that happens when Christians worship
with humble hearts and it shifts focus from a self-centered view to a desire to only give God the
glory. In this desire to glorify God, at the heart of it is the Great Commission and our call to
reach the nations. This book walks believers through the process of worship and how it
personally affects the call on our lives to evangelize.
Strength of the Book
This book does a great job of defining worship and highlighting the importance of worship in our
generation. The book goes so far as to say, “It is my opinion that God, in His sovereignty, has
chosen this generation as recipients of another Great Awakening. (p.43)” I also believe this
generation is anointed in their worship, but for so many it’s a fuzzy feeling over have a
transformational experience. The relationship drawn between true, humble worship and
evangelism is a powerful one that I had never really thought of, but makes complete sense. More
churches should draw this comparison in order to ignite passion from their congregants to get out
and share the hope of the gospel in the world.
Weaknesses of the Book
I had a difficult time with this section of the analysis because I feel as if the book had strong
points and biblical evidence that supported each of the points made. The book could have maybe
benefited from practical steps that churches can take in order to stir up genuine worship within
their walls. But this is a simple addition or follow up text, the quality of the content in the book
currently is beneficial and effective for the points it was attempting to make.
Quotes from the Book
“As discussed in the introduction, the concept of this book was born out of the tension
that exists between the call to be a worshipper of Christ and how that expression is lived
