Introduction
God’s story is by far the ultimate love story. It’s a story of creation, fall, rescue and
restoration. God’s story can be found in the Bible and in the hearts of every living Christian
around the world. This paper will discuss God’s story and how it intersects with my story.
Part One: What is God’s Story
God’s story began in Genesis when God created, well, everything! He created the
heavens and the Earth, day and night, waters, land and all living things including humans. The
Bible says in Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He
created him; male and female He created them.”1 God created Adam and Eve in His human form.
“Human beings are personal, created in the image of three divine persons.”2 “To be a person - to
be human - is to be in relationship.”2 God created us to be in an intimate personal relationship
with Him. He is a loving God who allows us to know Him personally.
Adam and Eve lived in peace and harmony with God until they dishonored Him by being
disobedient. He instructed them not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However,
He being the good God that He is, gave them free choice. He doesn’t make us obey Him. When
they ate of that tree all of mankind became cursed and separated from God. Adam and Eve’s
rebellion was the fall of our spiritual and physical death leaving us all in need of a Savior.

The Bible says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”3 According to
Zach Lee’s video on How to Share the Gospel Story, Lee states, “Though mankind fell, though
mankind sinned against God, we get King Jesus.”4 Jesus is God in the flesh. God Himself left all
of Heaven to come to earth in human form to redeem us from our sins. “Somebody is going to
die when you rebel against God and Jesus takes that punishment for us.”4 “That God the Father
punishes, God the Son, so that sinful humans can be forgiven and God still be just.”4 “By simple
faith and repentance in King Jesus we can be forgiven as well and incorporated as citizens into
God’s Kingdom.”4
Jesus is our rescue. He came to die the death we deserve. “In dying on the cross Jesus
revealed God’s character as holy and loving, restoring the honor God lost when Adam and Eve
sinned.5” “He took our shame, guilt and pain on Himself.”5 When we decide to fully commit
ourselves to a relationship with Jesus, He restores our peace with God. We can now walk in
harmony with our Creator and have an intimate relationship with Him.

When we choose to believe in Jesus and accept him as our personal Savior, God sends us
His Spirit. “He sends the Holy Spirit to live on the inside of us and help us honor God.”6 The
Holy Spirit leads and guides us into all truth and connects us directly to the Father. “The Spirit
also begins to heal our relationship with ourselves, others and the Earth.”6 God restores us from
the inside out bringing back to perfect peace and harmony with Him. It is up to us to except this
free gift of salvation. This gift cost us nothing but Jesus, it cost Him everything!
Part Two: How My Story Intersects with God’s Story
From an early age I hungered for more knowledge of God. Probably because a picture of
Jesus hung in my Granny’s hallway and it scared me but most likely because I was in and out of
church most of my childhood. My Uncle is a preacher and he would come and share God’s story
with me every year around Thanksgiving, not because it was a holiday but because I was deathly
sick every year around this time and I needed healing. I came to know Jesus first as my Healer
around 6 years old. I knew that He was sent to heal my sickness.
Around twelve years of age I remember being in revival and hearing God’s call to
repentance through a Gospel sermon. I gripped the pew and was very emotional. The more I
heard of God’s amazing story the hungrier I became to enter into a personal relationship with
Him. However, I didn’t except Him that night. Some time passed and I remember laying in bed
in the dark early morning hours and a sweet peace swept over me and I prayed and
acknowledged that I was a sinner, repented and asked God to save me. I felt I was a new creation
and immediately I was filled with joy.

Time has passed and so much growth has taken place. I am serving God in
ministry now at my local church. I lead our teen youth group on Wednesday nights. I enjoy
teaching children of God’s love and pouring His goodness into their lives. God is continually
working in and through me and I am forever grateful for all He has done and continues to do. I
am a work in progress and I can’t wait to see what all God has in store!
Conclusion
God’s story is the most important story you will ever hear or read about. Because of His
story I am free from a life of sin, guilt and shame. Through God’s amazing story of love so many
are set free from bondage and walk in God’s freedom. As a Christian follower of Christ, I desire
for others to know God’s story and it’s my job to carry His good news to the world.
