Thesis statement:
The colonial period covers a period of European takeover of North America. Religious
beliefs were the base of the colonial period which ran from 1607 to when the American
Revolution ended which was between 1775 and 1783. It marked the start of the white revolution
in the United States and the start of slavery, especially for minority people.
I.Introduction.
The European settlers moved to the American region in an attempt to increase or build
their wealth and increase the dominance they had over the globe and move away from religious
prosecution.
a.The Spanish were among the first set of Europeans that wanted to explore the new
world and develop dominance in the region.
b.A majority of the people that settled in the new world which was North America
were moving away from religious prosecution.
c.The English were the first to develop dominance in the region in 1650
II.First main point.
European settlers moved to the Americas to move away from political oppression and
have the freedom to practice their beliefs, especially in religion.
a.The native origins had strict rules that did not allow a majority to practice their
beliefs as they desired.
b.The political and religious structures especially in England were very strict which
limited a majority of people from engaging I their free practices.
III.Second main point.

The economic and social structures in the new world were more accommodative and
allowed the colonial settlers to engage in free trade and devise their rules.
a.There was freedom to trade since the region had different weather patterns that
did not allow for farming.
b.The settlers would create different rules that would allow them to use the taxes
they collected for personal development rather than sending them back to their
countries.
IV.Third main point.
There was a cosmopolitan approach to the way people lived in the region since there
were many people from different countries.
a.Many settlers came from England, Spain, Italy, and the Portuguese.
b.The presence of cosmopolitan nature allowed people to speak many languages
and engage in different forms of trade within the region.
V. Conclusion
The colonial period represented the movement of European settlers into America. There
was a need to create dominance and generate wealth. The settlers engaged in different activities
such as trade while in the region.
