A small daily detox from technology is something all of us could use daily in our lives.
Technology has a lot of positives like being able to connect with people all around the globe and
provide a quick easy way of communication, but there are also a lot of negatives. Everyday
technology causes depression, cyberbullying and wastes precious time! Limiting technology use
doesn’t mean we have to boycott phones; this is just a reminder to put down the technology
every once in a while and do things that will better benefit you. It’s important to learn how to let
technology complement your life and help you build connections with people, don’t just let
social media take over your life! Technology tends to make a lot of our relationships shallower,
especially relationships we have with people on social media like Instagram. We often compare
our lives and looks to others which creates a barrier between us and the real world around us.
Technology can even turn into a very unhealthy addiction where it can become like a kind of
drug for a lot of teenagers. Dopamine is released when we browse the internet or on social
media, and our brains can start to crave technology the longer we are off it after we are used to
being on it all the time. Some good ways to distract yourself from being on your phone would be
taking a drive and enjoying the world around you, spending time with your friends without your
phone, taking a hike, or even just sitting outside. The good thing is your amount of phone usage
is something that you can change. Everyone is different, we all have different schedules so we
will all spend different times on our technology, but we can always cut back on our technology
uses and try to make the most of the life we are living now.
