Step 1: Narrative Paragraph: Prewriting
Topic: My topic I’m going to discuss is the day I found out about becoming an aunt, and
leading up to the day my nephew was born. I’m going to provide specific details,
feelings, and emotions into my paper. This story happens within a 3 month time span
from us finding out at 7 months of the pregnancy until the day my nephew is brought
home. The very first day occurs in the car, and it was a regular Sunday afternoon. When
we received the news, my thoughts in my mind began to wonder about all the new
changes and responsibilities. The baby shower takes place at the house, and outside on
the porch/yard. The start of labor happened at the doctor’s office, and moments later they
arrived at the hospital where my nephew finally made his appearance. When my brother’s
girlfriend was released from the hospital; they finally brought my nephew home where I
got to hold/ see him for the first time.
Attitude/Point: My attitude/point of this event is my personal emotions/experience
becoming an aunt.
Audience: My audience can relate to other people who may be an aunt such as myself.
Purpose: The purpose of my experience is to inform and entertain what is was like to
become an aunt.
Topic Sentence: The most important and memorable event in my life was becoming an
aunt.
Paragraph Plan:
1.The day I received greatest news about my brother becoming a dad, which meant
I was going to be an aunt.
2.Realizing the new responsibilities of becoming an aunt. (caring ,loving, etc.)
3.Setting up/ having the baby shower at the house with both families attending.
4.Gender and name reveal at birth, because my brother and his girlfriend didn’t find
out until the baby was born.
5.Meeting and holding my nephew for the first time. Love at first sight.

Step 2: Narrative Paragraph: First Draft
It was a normal sunny and regular Sunday afternoon. I was in the car when I received a phone
call about my brother expecting a baby. In that exact moment I was feeling happy, excited,
surprised, joyful, and much more. After the emotions, I thought about the responsibilities of
becoming an aunt. There was caring for the baby, showing and giving lots of love, and to be
there when needed. A few months go by, it was time to set up and have the baby shower. We had
a neutral themed shower, because we still didn’t know the gender of the baby. The shower was
held on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Friends and families gathered at the house to celebrate a new
life coming into the world. A few weeks go by, and they went to their last doctor appointment.
An hour later, my brother called, my family was notified that the baby was coming. When the
baby was born, we finally found out it was a boy, and his name was Javier Lee Johnson. When
they brought my nephew home, I got to hold him, and as I looked at him I knew in that moment
it was love at first sight.
