I would like to formally introduce myself, my name is Daniel Shin and there is a lot to
know about me. I am a sophomore here at Liberty and my major is in Criminal Justice (Strategic
Intelligence). I live in Northern Virginia with two older sisters who are both working in their
dream jobs. My oldest sister Grace is a teacher in Alexandria, VA who got her degree in human
development and health science; while my second sister Sophia is a news and media specialist at
CNN in New York with her degree in government communications at Boston University. I gave
my life to Christ when I was 12 during a dark time of my past and now I am at one of the biggest
Christian universities in the world. After I gave my life to Christ, I found more comfort in
reading to help calm me whenever I was stressed from work. I would love to create book
summaries for myself so I can remember the important events or quotes I missed in the story.
Soon, after a couple of years, I started to lose interest in writing my book summaries. In writing,
I have a bad tendency to overthink my topic and write about other subjects in my essays that do
not relate to one another. My biggest goals in improving in my writing is to be able to focus on
one topic and try to research and come up with the examples that are related to my essay. English
101 this year will help me improve my writing, help me not overthink in the topic I am given,
and will not use repetitive sentences and words in an essay to confuse or frustrate my audience.
