Soldiers and Police
Soldiers and police officers are both very important to society and have similarities and
differences. They both have duties and responsibilities to protect and serve the country they live
in. But in most cases, being a soldier has more responsibilities than an officer of the law because
soldiers protect the people in foreign and domestic lands.
Both soldiers and officers may have great similarities, but soldiers have more
responsibilities than officers and have it harder for themselves. They are constantly overseas and
fight against foreign threats that can possibly attack their homes. A big example of soldiers
having the responsibility to protect against foreign threats is the constant fight against the
religious terrorist group, “ISIS”. Soldiers are away from their families for long periods of time
while officers aren’t away from their families for long. Also, soldiers face higher consequences
than officers if they are in trouble and can face higher punishment than most officers of the law
do and are looked down by the public.
However, they have a common goal in the end, to protect the people, the law, and the
Constitution itself. Officers have the responsibilities to protect and serve the law for the people
and by the people. Soldiers have the responsibilities to protect and serve the Constitution, their
superiors, and their fellow comrades against any foreign and domestic threats. Also they have an
important characteristic, they both have respect for others as well as respect from the people they
protect. They both also have integrity and doing what is morally and ethically right, not just what
is legal.
In addition to having many differences, they both also have big differences that define
their job obligations and duties. The primary duty of a police officer is to protect people and
property. To accomplish this task, police officers carry out specific job duties on a regular basis,
which vary depending on the size and type of their law enforcement organization. While soldiers
have the duty to fulfill their obligations in the best manner possible. They contribute to the
efforts of a team, meet their personal assignments and make every attempt to fulfill every
mission assigned.
In conclusion, soldiers and officers both have similarities and differences that define
them. They both have responsibilities to protect and serve the people from foreign and domestic
threats. A big difference between them are their duties for the people, officers protect and serve
the law and carry out specific job duties. While Soldiers protect and serve the Constitution, their
superiors, and fellow comrades and contribute to the efforts of a team, meet their personal
assignments and make every attempt to fulfill every mission assigned. Both are very important to
society and without them in our lives, society would be broken and lost.
