Education has changed dramatically over the years to keep up with advances in
science and technology. This requires teaching strategies that are knowledge- and technology-
driven to be effective. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and application-based abilities are
emphasized in modern teaching approaches. They help promote curiosity and creativity in
students, support the ambitious spirit, and develop innovation in the education industry. These
instructional approaches contribute to society's advancement and development by
encouraging people to think critically and solve problems. This, in turn, creates a more
productive and innovative society. Nowadays, teaching strategies are designed to encourage
growth and evolution to keep up with the worldwide exchange of information, making
education more comprehensive. This newfound emphasis on exploration and investigation
instead of rote memorization has piqued students' interest in various disciplines. Technology
has changed, and knowledge can now be exchanged worldwide, having a substantial impact
on the traditional classroom.
Teachers employ innovative teaching techniques, such as collaborative learning,
spaced learning, the flipped classroom, self-learning, and gamification, to accommodate this
change. Collaborative learning allows students to work together in space, while spaced
learning involves repeated lessons with 10-minute breaks to rest the brain. Flipped classrooms

require students to complete pre-work at home, maximizing their time and learning
experience. Self-learning promotes independence and encourages students to dig deeper into
their interests. Gamification has proven to be a highly effective educational method for
children in elementary and preschool grades.
A teaching method that is on the forefront of educational technology is called VAK
Teaching. This stands for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic teaching. This method groups
students according to their preferred learning preferences. Teachers can then change their
teaching to fit each student's individual skills. Cross-over learning, which mixes formal and
informal learning, enhances traditional classroom learning by using students' daily
experiences and interactions. Collaborative learning, gamification, spaced learning, and VAK
instruction are four strategies employed at the preschool and school levels. Project-based
learning, problem-solving, design thinking, thinking-based learning, and competency-focused
learning can improve academic achievement and change the educational environment.
Project-based learning usually means giving students tasks related to real-world
situations, while problem-solving encourages creativity and critical thinking skills. Design
thinking gives students the chance to think about a problem and produce original, creative
solutions. Thinking-based learning helps students contextualize and understand material to
convert it into knowledge, while Competency-Based Learning helps students show and
develop core skills for future success.
Current teaching strategies in higher education include flipped classrooms, self-
directed learning, crossover learning, and collaborative learning. Gamification and spaced
learning methodologies are more effective than school approaches. Higher education students

may benefit more from self-learning or project-based learning. Contemporary education
methods focus on making the learner the center of the learning environment and encouraging
cooperation for a healthier learning environment.
