RESEARCH ASSESSMENT MODELS
Abstract
Accreditation ensures institutions meet requirements, while assessments measure goals. The
Joughin and Macdonald Model of Assessment offers a structured framework in higher education,
focusing on planning, implementing, evaluating, and reviewing. Enhancing the model with
formative assessments, feedback mechanisms, and diverse strategies could promote student
success. Like the Liberty University PLACE model, incorporating stakeholders in assessment
processes emphasizes collaboration and alignment with objectives. Regional accreditation
standards require engagement from various stakeholders to ensure quality and compliance.
Different approaches to assessment, such as Levels and Organizational Performance, offer
insights into individual and institutional effectiveness. A Christian worldview sees evaluation
and accreditation as reflecting values of stewardship and accountability. Enhancing assessment
models and involving stakeholders can lead to better outcomes in education and align with
broader objectives./
