Abstract
Aspirations and expectations for education are based on family ancestry. People from
households where academic success is highly valued frequently have better levels of motivation
and self-efficacy when it comes to going to college. They are more likely to have grown up in a
home where learning is valued and to see college as a logical next step in their education. On the
other hand, people from households with low levels of education could have particular
difficulties. Their scholastic journey may be hampered by socioeconomic constraints, lack of
guidance, and restricted access to resources. These people could struggle with imposter
syndrome and self-doubt, which could lower their confidence in higher education environments.
Educational family genealogy profoundly shapes a person's higher education experience,
impacting their aspirations, expectations, access to resources, and even their choice of study.
Understanding and addressing these dynamics can help educators and institutions better support
and empower students from diverse backgrounds.

Section Two
My family members' varied backgrounds and areas of competence have combined to
create a colorful tapestry that is my educational genealogy. It has been a crucial compass that has
significantly influenced my decisions and perspectives on higher education as it stands today.
This reflection looks at how my Biblical worldview viewpoint interacts with my educational
heritage and how it has shaped my educational and professional path. My mother's academic
experience in special education and psychology has greatly influenced the way I view higher
education. Her extensive background and expertise make her an excellent tutor. Her ability to
offer perceptions, counsel, and direction regarding academic and professional pathways has been
a beacon of light for me as I've pursued my studies. In addition to being educational, her
EDUC 782
mentorship has given me a feeling of purpose and confidence as I work through the challenges of
managing higher education.
In addition, my mother's expertise in special education has allowed her to have a deep
comprehension of the various demands and difficulties that students encounter. Her
understanding of the nuances of helping people with special needs is invaluable in my current
position as dean of students. A varied student population necessitates understanding and treating
its well-being in order to guarantee that every student has the chance to achieve. This aspect of
her influence is exactly in line with my goal of fostering a welcoming and encouraging campus
community that supports each student's academic and personal growth.
My father is a different but no less influential figure in my educational decisions; he
began his career with a high school diploma and some college experience. His tale is one of
tenacity and diligence as he persisted in pursuing his chosen vocation and way of life. His
experience has taught me the significance of steadfast devotion and perseverance in the face of
adversity. It serves as a reminder that hard work and perseverance pay off, even in cases where
an individual's educational trajectory deviates from the norm. His impact has served as a constant
source of inspiration for me, encouraging me to keep going after my professional and higher
education ambitions despite any setbacks.
My grandma has taught me important moral and ethical principles. She has a solid
background in religious studies and theology. These principles—compassion, empathy, and
integrity—are fundamental to these ideals because they are critical to the management of student
affairs and higher education. Her school experience has made me more aware of how crucial it is
to recognize and value the variety of viewpoints held by people and to foster an inclusive campus
community. Her doctorates in religious studies have served as further motivation for me to
EDUC 782
pursue academic achievement. My approach to research, publications, and scholarly
contributions in the subject of higher education administration are influenced by this conviction.
I try to make sure that, like my grandmother, my work is characterized by commitment, morality,
and a quest for knowledge.
Lastly, my uncle has influenced my perspective on higher education by pursuing a degree
in theatre and theatre production. He does this by emphasizing creativity and innovation.
Thinking creatively is encouraged in the theater, and his expertise has motivated me to approach
problems in student affairs in a novel way. His knowledge has inspired me to look into cutting-
edge approaches to improve the learning environment and increase the impact and engagement
of instruction. His instruction in presenting and communication techniques has also improved my
capacity to successfully articulate my goals as a dean of students. In a higher education
institution, building awareness and support among stakeholders requires clear communication
and powerful presentation.
The integration of a biblical worldview perspective into my scholastic background has
furnished me with a strong basis for my pursuit of higher education. I think that one way to
answer God's call to be good stewards of the gifts and skills He has given us is through
education. By addressing societal issues and advancing social justice, it empowers us to serve
our communities and the wider community more effectively. My religious beliefs instill in me
the importance of love, compassion, and serving others—values that are in perfect harmony with
the duties of a dean of students, who must prioritize fostering an inclusive and encouraging
atmosphere. My biblical worldview supports the notion that education may promote empathy,
inclusion, and meaningful service to others in addition to being a personal pursuit for growth.
This viewpoint emphasizes the significance of wisdom and understanding in line with Proverbs
EDUC 782
4:7, which says, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting,
get understanding."
In summary, my educational heritage, enhanced by my family members' knowledge and
experiences, has greatly influenced my decisions and perspectives on tertiary education. It has
given me a wide range of abilities, principles, and viewpoints that inform my work as dean of
students. This ancestry, combined with my viewpoint on the biblical worldview, influences my
educational and professional path by encouraging a dedication to scholarly excellence, empathy,
resilience, creativity, honesty, and serving students and society at large.
