social-emotional learning concepts, strategies, and theories
centered around the topics of emotional intelligence, self-

research about emotional intelligence and how each child is
different when it comes to being emotional intelligent. Findings
have shown that children who are emotionally intelligent know
how to describe feelings, empathize with other, controlled or
manages their emotions, understands what causes feelings, and
understanding emotions. This resource summarizes how emotional
intelligence looks different in children of all ages and how to recognize
and identify how emotional intelligence exhibits within students.
Another success this resource offers is evidence-based strategies and
activities that enhance SEL skills in the classroom. The textbook
provides lessons plans, exercises, journal prompts, and discussion
questions.
f. Weaknesses This book contains many strategies and practices of
implementing social-emotional learning but it lacks strategies and
practices pertaining to secondary education students. The book
has a few secondary age appropriate practices but not as many
strategies as it does for elementary age children. Nevertheless, it
needs to provide a diverse range of lessons that connects with
