be a positive asset to any class that teaches advocacy, journalism,
social justice, American history, or mass communication
(Routledge, 2024). Mainly because this book provides readers
with engaging new case studies, as well as distinctive
perspectives. Additionally, this book supplies readers with a
historical framework that addresses challenges that correlate to
the cultural chasms we currently face. Last, there is also a wide
array of information that can help give readers a deeper grasp of
the origins of cultural challenges and assist journalists or writers
become more effective communicators.
Multiple cultures, beyond African Americans are represented in
this book.
Book also comes in paperback, hardback, and digital.
f. Weaknesses The school is in a district that is one on one. Meaning, every child
is issued a Chromebook. Therefore, teachers receive class sets of
books, but students’ books are all digital. However, if the school
decides to select the eBook option via VitalSource, it would
require the school to get approval to use VitalSource, as well as
purchase accounts for each student to use and access their
eBooks.
2. Think about language concerns.
a. Use of phonics Students would be able to customize their text, for example,
change font styles and sizes, highlight text, and make annotations
as they read. Additionally, VitalSource allows students to enable
a text-to-speech function which reads the text to them.
