Professional Issue
The professional issue chosen for this assignment is Eastern Florida State College’s
(EFSC) abrupt decision to move from a decentralized to a centralized structure. The post
COVID-19 return to campus blind sighted all stakeholders. Starting with a new organizational
structure and followed by the announcement to centralize departments. There was little to no
communication to those that would be affected the most. There was no rational vision or
direction behind the sudden change, leaving personnel lost and confused.
Overview
Established in 1960, Eastern Florida State College has four brick and mortar and an
online campus. The college is located along the Space Coast of Florida with campuses that
conveniently cover Brevard County from North to South. EFSC is a proud community partner
that has been committed to excellence for over 60 years. The college provides high standard
accessible learning opportunities that successfully meet individual, and community needs.
