Abstract
As the world emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic, the expansion of educational technology
applications is more promising than ever. Both developers and educators learned how to teach
students in remote environments, and educators engaged in unprecedented professional
development for technology-based learning. Many opportunities lay ahead for shifting education
from traditional approaches. The Internet of Things, artificial intelligence expansion, and further
development of remote learning platforms are trends that will be in the education arena for
decades to come. Some opportunities will come up to apply this application to other educational
technology initiatives that promote personalized learning. Artificial intelligence makes
personalized more plausible because digital tutors can provide students with immediate
feedback, allowing educators to spend more time planning effective instruction. As schools
investigate how to incorporate robotics, STEM, and coding initiatives, there must be
considerations on keeping students safe and acting ethically. Student safety must be the number
one priority schools must make before jumping into technology initiatives. Some states have
passed laws requiring schools to communicate with developers about safety concerns. Another
major challenge facing educational institutions that aspire to increase access to technology is
ensuring that educators have the proper training and self-efficacy to integrate technology
effectively.
