The Impacts of being Christ-Like in an Educational Setting
2
Introduction
When we think of life and how we all were created, there are many different views on
creation. Did we come from evolution, did we come from a higher power, or were we
reincarnated. As Christians, we all believe God created us. God was the author and finisher of
our faith. God lived his life in purity. Being born into sin, we will never be able to be pure, but
we can live Christ-like as much as possible. As an educator, our job is to teach students and
work with them to instill life lessons. In the classroom, ethics is very important in teaching
students right and wrong. This builds social and emotional relationships which is one of the key
components in education. Showing students how to be Christ-like is a key step in providing them
with the tools they need to be successful; therefore striving them to be ethical in the classroom
and in life.
Biblical World View
Our worldview as educators should reflect what we practice and teach. Best practices
gives students strategies they would use not only in the classroom, but in real life. The logic is
that an understanding of god shapes our view of all things and therefore shapes our approach to
education (Dickens, 2014). What does Christ-like actually mean? The Bible teaches us love
through God, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son; whosoever
believed in him should not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16 (King James Version). We
