Chapter 2, question 11: Was Augustine ahead of his time in his
pedagogical theory? Why or why not?
Despite some epistemological disagreement, Augustine was indeed ahead of
his time. His visionary writings, values, and life example, and theories
established the foundation of Western Christianity, and are a model for
educators that are still relevant today. Augustine’s forward-thinking is
exemplified in one of his most popular writings. is Confessions Confessions
the first Western Christianity autobiography, Augustine had the courage to
speak his truth revealing intimate details of his sinful youth even though to
do so was uncommon in literature in that era.
