Title of Paper: The Impact of Equity Education on The Achievement Gap: Bridging the
Educational Divide in STEM Education
I. Introduction
A. Introduce the topic.
1. This paper will attempt to explain how equity in education will
bridge the learning gap that exist specifically in STEM education.
2. Included in this paper will be some policies, practices, and
procedures that relate to the topic. This paper will look at Brown vs.
the Board of Education, Every Student Succeeds Act and Vygotsky’s
and Piaget’s theories that associate learning to building on the
student’s previous experiences, specifically multicultural education
practices. Additionally, this paper will explore instructional strategies
that focuses on the student leading instruction and the teacher
becoming a guide. These policies, practices, and procedures will be
examined in the context of STEM education with the intent of
minority students becoming professionals in associated fields.
