Do we as educators need dierenate our instrucon? to
It is crical for us to dierenate our instrucon as educators. Every student is unique; not one tool or
method mold all students, so why should we try to t all students into one specic curriculum,
examinaon, or teaching method? “A hallmark of good instruction is a learning plan that reects the
typical diversity of students as opposed to one that only suits the strength and comfort level of the
teacher.” (McTighe & Wiggins, p. 92). 2012
We must take we learned from the past and use these lessons to evoke change for the future. Just as we
have evolved in the ways to teach and learn, we should evolve in how we adapt these teachings to each
individual student.
Should teachers at all levels be expected to dierenate their instrucon?
I've had the privilege instructing students of in the Aviation Structural Mechanic Career School pipeline
for both inial and transion students as an educator. I discovered while instructing several groups of
Sailors and Marines that it is necessary disnguish between the dierent ages. Students will learn to at
varying rates, and while the end goal is always to achieve topic competency and comprehension, there
are many paths to take to get there. Some students may learn at a faster rate then others or excel in
