1. Displays a sense of Social Responsibility and the belief that all students can learn.
I have displayed the belief that all students can learn by always backing up problems with
solutions that encourage students and reaffirm that I see potential in them. I have displayed a
sense of social of social responsibility by actively engaging in discussions with my
classmates on Blackboard and putting newly learned strategies to practice. I have become
better teacher by being able to accurately identify target behavior, correctly address it, and
continue to encourage students to learn. I treat all of my students fairly, but not equally. I
differentiate lessons and curriculum for those students while also setting firm boundaries and
expectations. At the beginning of the year, I am intentional with building relationships with
students and learning their individual strengths and weaknesses. I also mirror real life
examples for them so that they can see how good behavior modeled on an everyday basis.
2. Demonstrate Commitment and Work Ethic.
I have demonstrated commitment and work ethic by consistently turning in assignments
and staying engaged. Each assignment I carefully worked through in order to understand
effective Behavior Management and strategies. Working full time, teaching 3rd grade
virtually, and in school full time really made me have to prioritize my time. As a teacher I
demonstrate work ethic and commitment daily by not only teaching, but making myself
available to students, parents, as well as other teachers. I show that I am a tea player and
committed to my students and school by attending staff meetings on time, participating in
school events or activities, and going to seminars and webinars to stay informed and
educated.
3. Demonstrates Reflective Practice.
During the course of this class, I have stayed up many nights pondering over the
strategies I have learned. I often reflect on what I’ve learned vs. what I implement in my own
classroom. I question whether or not I’m too hard or too lenient with those students in my
class with several target behavior. My school in located in another country, it is international
and private. Most students do not IEPS or Behavioral Assessments even they should. This is
just not the culture or common practice in the education system in The Bahamas. I have
especially enjoyed reading what my classmates experiences are like in their classrooms and
sharing about what I struggle with in mine. Furthermore, with each assignment I discover
more and more research and data that can support me in implementing these new strategies
and practices into my own classroom.
4. Displays Personal Integrity
I have displayed integrity throughout the course of the eight weeks by being completely
open and honest about my struggles in the classroom. Each assignment has been reflective of
my own experiences, successes, failures, and hardships. As a teacher, I lead by example to
my students by admitting when I have made a mistake, apologizing, and prioritizing honesty.
I also write my own lesson plans and give credit to the author when I use another educator’s
ideas or experiments. Students and colleagues know that they can come to me in confidence,
and that I would never share details of our conversation with anyone.
5. Displays Professionalism in Behavior and Actions
I have displayed Professionalism in this course by being respectful to the Professor nd all
of my classmates. In discussions and written assignments, I use appropriate language that
pertains to the topic. I keep a positive, professional tone even if I am disagreeing with a
classmate. I always keep in mind that no two teachers are alike, and we all have differing
views and opinions because we come from various backgrounds and cultures. At work, I
adhere to the school’s rules and regulations by dressing professionally and appropriately
every day. I collaborate with other teachers, and sometimes agree to disagree in a
respectful manner.
