Moral Foundation and Value Differences Assignment
Morals play a critical role in individuals' life because it enables them to recognize
other people's beliefs regardless of whether they are inoffensive, reasonable, or enlightened.
Also, recognizing accountability and a feeling of sympathy is essential for people working in
human services, such as the human resource staff. Thus, the individuals should possess the
behaviors because it also helps them act professionally and handle different employees
differently. This paper will focus on my moral foundation and then explain how human service
professionals should consider the disagreement resulting in obliteration in counseling support.
Moral Foundation
People exhibit different values depending on the culture they come from. Therefore, a
moral foundation is essential because it explains why ethics is different across cultures. Thus,
Hook et al. (2017) stated that the Moral Foundation Questionnaire (MFCQ) is a critical tool used
to evaluate an individual's attitude toward deference, allegiance, reciprocity, care, and holiness.
Moreover, the questionnaire provides several scores that differ for every evaluation element. For
instance, the score for allegiance is sixteen, that of care is twenty points one, for holiness is
twelve points six, and that for respect is deference is sixteen points five. Similarly, the reciprocity
attitude score is twenty point five.
Based on the results I obtained made me puzzled. After performing the evaluation
questionnaire, the results were as follows, in sanctity, I obtained twenty-nine; in loyalty, I scored
six. Similarly, I scored twenty, twenty-nine, and twenty-four in respect, care, and reciprocity. The
result is inaccurate because I achieved most of the attitudes more than the set average scores.
However, I cannot judge if the results presented indicated are wrong or right. When fixed on

choices that depend on perceiving and assessing others, one will need considerable skills. It is
challenging how one can judge right or wrong because judging another person from an optimistic
viewpoint seems to be self-centered and vindictive to other people. When I think about what is
essential to me, I might not use this model because while I focus on my safety or family
protection, one might consider that I don't love my nation when I don't engage in the war.
Value Difference
Working in the human service, I might face several conflicts that may interfere with other
people's values. For example, since I tend to interact more with customers and other employees
when working as a human resource staff, I tend to experience some the conflicts, such as not
taking a gift from workers. Gifts have various perceptions from other people; however, I do not
accept gifts from other people and thus might make them feel bad. Another conflict might arise
in maintaining confidentiality, especially when another person poses a danger to their security
because I will disclose the situation. Another conflict might arise because I do not operate with
people who have been involved in dreadful crimes such as child abuse.
Fictional Case
James is a thirty-five-year-old man who was recently imprisoned due to sexual offenses.
After being involved in a two-year case concerning the rape of a sixteen-year-old girl, James
faced significant challenges in her family because he got a divorce from his wife. Also, the girl
and James both admitted that the act was consensual, but the state continued with the case, and
now James is on the sex criminal record. Also, James is currently involved in counseling to
accept the situation and must attend the sessions three times every week. James emphasizes how
sorry he is because of the actions despite the girl being the love of his life and confesses to the

counselor that he touched her first when she was thirteen and did not complain. And at fifteen,
they had sex for the first time. Although James is a Christian by religion, the religion now
interacts with the rehabilitation to provide sustenance for James to obtain consolation from the
need for sex.
Collaborative Discussion
The collaborative discussion will comprise James, who has participated in the rape crime
and is facing significant challenges to accept the mistakes he did both to the girl and his family,
including his wife. Therefore, James converses with Alex, his counselor, in the prison counseling
room. They two have three counseling sessions every week.
James: I think I am ready to accept the mistakes and talk with my wife concerning my actions.
However, I have avoided thinking about her because of requesting a divorce without
understanding her.
Alex: James, it seems as if you are clear that you are enthusiastic about addressing the actions
you have been evading
James: I have handled some things, and I am ashamed regarding them; however, I need to ask for
forgiveness from my wife and children. Through God, I feel I have changed and am blameless.
Although the girl's parents cannot forgive me, I can continue to explain to them, and I believe I
will have attempted to make them understand and know they will forgive me one day.
Alex: I am excited that you have found peace through my service, and I hope everything will be
fine with all you plan on doing.
James: thank you, Dr. Alex.

In summation, human service professionals are experts that work straightforwardly with
other individuals in the community and the society. Therefore, human resource works with
individuals outside their extravagance divisions to assist them in connecting their primary human
requirements to function physically, emotionally, and meaningfully in their ecosystem.
Moreover, human resource staff must handle their employees and other people with dignity and
respect.
