Hi Class,
I decided after my readings for this course assignment, to do a qualitative research on
classroom management. I would like to gain more insight into classroom management in
education. I hear all the time that if you can’t manage a classroom, you will not be an
effective teacher. As a teacher in the elementary school, I believe researching this
information would benefit me as well. During this research, my purpose of study is:
The purpose of the qualitative study is to understand how classroom management
affects student’s performance in classrooms?
The purpose of the qualitative study is to explore how classroom management
effects teacher’s instruction in classrooms?
The purpose of qualitative study is to describe ways to improve classroom
management skills with teachers in the classroom?
Some research questions I would like to explore during this study are:
1.Do teachers with universal classroom management skills reduce problems in
classrooms of students in elementary-high school?
2.What are the effects of classroom management with new teachers and veteran
teachers?
3.What are the behaviors that are affecting classrooms elementary to high school?
The theoretical review I discovered was from the article, “Reducing reality shock:
The effects of classroom management skills training on beginning teacher” (T. Dicke
et al.3). The article discussed information regarding new teachers versus veteran
teachers. It suggests that new teachers are more vulnerable than veteran teachers due

to the inexperience. It discusses different behaviors that are common with new
teachers
My views are: I believe that classroom management plays a big dealing the
effectiveness of instruction in classrooms. It is important for a teacher to be able to
mange the classroom. The management of the classroom can show a teachers
strengths and weaknesses. I’ve seen many teachers struggle in this area. The effects of
the lack of classroom management have caused many students to not get the
instruction needed to meet academic goals. Therefore, causing some students not to
be promoted to the next grade level due to the behaviors displayed in the classroom
that interrupted instruction. Things should be done in a manner that is in order. To me
that includes in the classroom as well (1 Corinthians 14:40). How can teachers
manage the classrooms to effectively meet the needs of all learners? How do we
handle disruptive behaviors in classrooms? Now that we have many professional
development opportunities, how can teachers improve on classroom management
skills?
