COURSE PAPER REVISION AND REPORT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Was the feedback helpful? Why or why not?
was The feedback very helpful. I like how the Online Writing Center (OWC) highlighted
my problem areas with corrections written off to the side. That feature helped me find
my errors very quickly and efficiently.
2. What surface level problems do you have?
My surface level problems really came down to a lot of APA (American Pyschology
Association) formatting issues. I do not have much experience with APA formatting (my
papers in my undergrad were MLA), so it was good to receive some direction.
3. What deep level problems do you have?
I did not have very many deep level problems as most of my feedback revolved around
formatting issues. However, my biggest issue was with writing a concise conclusion. The
OWC provided me with a link to an article on how to write proper conclusions. That wa a
big help.
4. Based on the feedback, what are your major weaknesses as a writer?
My major weaknesses are following precise instructions. I also have a tendency to write
the way I speak. This is fine for short, non-academic writings, however I need to further
develop my academic voice when it comes to scholastic writing pieces.
5. Which step of the writing process will help you overcome this weakness?
Practice, practice, practice! The more I write the better I will get. And with plenty of
more classes to take, I will have ample opportunity to fine tune my writing skills. Stephen
King did not write a bestseller the first time he wrote a story, so I will need to continue to
write as well.
6. Based on the feedback, what are your major strengths?
Based off of my feedback, I did do very good research regarding my topic and had a very
clear purpose and plan to my paper.
7. What part of your writing process relates to this strength?
The best part of the writing process that relates to my strength is my brainstorming
process. I tend to plan very well ahead of time so that way, I can sit down and type out
the paper without hitting a writers block.
8. What can you do in the future to improve your strength?
In the future, I need to write or draw out what I plan to do. I usually do it all in my head,
however, it would be better to write stuff down, especially if I have a long writing
assignment to complete.
9. In which way was this course most helpful to you?
It forced me to step out of my comfort zone and work on my weaknesses. If anything, I
wish I had had this course at the beginning of my online learning journey.
10. Will you use the Online Writing Center’s tutoring service in the future? Why or why not?
