Lily’s assessment is compared to the IFSP program which assess and evaluates he
ability to meet goals set forth for her based off her age and needs. Lily’s evaluation is
determined by her being able to meet the same goals of children that are her age.
2. What do you notice about how Emily and Laura share responsibilities for
conducting the assessment? Emily and Laura share responsibilities of Laura being the
Occupational Therapist and Emily being the Educator. Both take on the responsibility of typing
out what they observe as it pertains to Lily’s behavior as well as assessing her positive social
and emotional skills, her ability to acquire and use knowledge, and her ability to get her needs
met.
3. How is Lily’s grandmother included in the assessment?
Paula includes Lily’s grandmother in the assessment by reviewing the safe guards and
procedural information with her. She is also included in the assessment because of Lily’s ability
to interact with her in regard to her social and emotional skills.

In this case I feel like the family transitions easily because the assistance that the state has
provided to them to help lily with early intervention.

The service coordinator’s role during this transition is to make sure that lily is meeting her goals,
that she is progressing as it pertains to social and emotional behaviors as well as her ability to
acquire and use knowledge.
6. How did Emily and Laura discuss skills that Lily is showing now? How did they
discuss skills that Lily has not yet achieved? Could you tell which skills Lily needs to
gain next? Emily and Laura discussed the skills that lily is showing now by explaining her
interaction with her grandmother, her ability to physically move around, her ability to verbally
communicate, as well as her ability to understand and problem solve. They discussed her skills
by referring and comparing her to a 15-month-old and the stages that they are at and what
stage she is in at the moment. Based off what was said in the video I could tell she still needed
to acquire some skills to be on track. It seems as if Lily needs to become more social and
emotionally mature as well as have better verbal skills that are comparable to a child that’s of
the same age.
7. How did Emily and Laura check in with Lily’s grandmother about the accuracy of
their assessment observations? Why is this important?
Emily and Laura asked Lily’s grandmother questions to ensure that they were obtaining
accurate information from their observation of Lily. It is important because they didn’t want to
assume that the actions that they were observing were happening daily and not just a one-time
situation.
