CRISIS MANAGEMENT AND SCHOOL SAFETY TEMPLATE
EDUC 350
STEP 1a: List 3 things you learned about a Crisis Management Plan. Cell will expand as you type.
1. In an elementary school crisis, it is important that each teacher/counselor represents safety in their specific profession to
assist traumatized students.
2. A safety code should be created for all staff members to alert the requirement for lockdown.
3. In a crisis, it is life-saving to be able to recognize signs of danger on the school property.
STEP 1b: List 2 things that surprised you about a Crisis Management Plan. Cell will expand as you type .
1. When held unexpectedly captive, the plan of action was surprising.
2. In case the teacher commits suicide, a substitute teacher should be available and present for this situational crisis.
STEP 2: In at least 100 words, summarize your thoughts regarding what you learned, what surprised you, and why. Cell will expand
as you type.
Throughout the in-depth significance of school safety, the document lists concepts that adhere to school safety. If involved in an
unfortunate school crisis, there is a predominant role in handling the situation. Before announcing the emergency, there are multiple
surprising steps to take into consideration with CRT. The school crisis management procedures outline the importance of a special
phrase or code for a lockdown. It is considered beneficial to value the different job roles in the education system.” Throughout the
year, the teacher should return to brief conversations about the understandings to review, add, and refine classroom routines and
procedures.” (Sousa and Tomlinson, 2018) As a future teacher, the critical issues involved in a crisis that are mentioned throughout
the “School Crisis Response Manual” document promotes classroom safety. If an emergency occurs in class or on the playground, the
document thoroughly prepares teachers to handle the critical issue appropriately. “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is
God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His
commandments.” (King James Version, 2024) The lessons implemented throughout this course promoted school safety. As indicated
in the “School Crisis Response Manual” document, the CRT is crucial for preventing startling suicide indications. In a school that
provides a safe classroom environment, this should represent the most adequate protection for all the students.
STEP 3: Application. In at least 300 words, reflect on your experience or what you would want to ensure in a school you would teach
at. How would you apply this knowledge to your safety and student safety? What recommendations would you make to your school
leadership?

In case of an emergency, teachers should implement proficient safety precautions. The document revealed safety procedures for
the school board to administer. This is to ensure student safety through various emergency situations. The responsibilities of the
school nurse, bus drivers, principals, and teachers should be refreshed on the rules of school safety conduct. “An effective Crisis
Response Team will make decisions as a team and will have various roles/responsibilities assigned to individual team members.”(Dr.
Arlene Ackerman, 2003) The safety plans should be reevaluated every two to three months. According to the document, the
stressful emergency would release a warning sign for the teacher to enable the safety code. Effectual rules that are applied in the
classroom would correlate to the rules and safety procedures. “It is essential to handle a crisis in a rapid and sensitive manner.” (Dr.
Arlene Ackerman, 2003) To enhance security footage in a classroom, a teacher must lock all doors and windows. Attending school
meetings would help all staff members to revise highly beneficial plans in case of an emergency. I would apply the knowledge of
student safety through formative assessments to demonstrate the safety protocol in a critical emergency situation. To sort out
potential confusion with acquiring school safety, the document recommends arranging a safety protocol that focuses on ensuring
that everyone will be safe in class.
